How to be rich in few minutes

Updated on August 29, 2012

This is About Wisdom I Acquired From My College Dean Who Keeps on Giving me Valuable Advice.

This write up is relatively short but I hope it could inspire surfers from all walks of life all across the planet, since hard times is evident and widely felt in many places now. Sometimes in our life we take essential things for granted and often overlooked what we already have that are far more precious than any other things that glitters like jewels and gold.

One day when I am talking to my favorite College Dean (Nyahahaha, he's the only dean in the school where I work with), who happens to be very smart and friendly, I was surprised a bit when he suddenly asked me a question which was so puzzling since I don't know where he is up to. He might be joking or playing some tricks, but then he was serious with it. His question was intriguing and seems interesting as he asked me, "Do you want to be rich?". Whew, most of us wanted to be rich and at that very moment I replied his question with, "How?", He answered me with this enlightening words, "Count your blessings, the priceless possessions you have will determine how rich you are." His words of wisdom was one of the best I've ever heard and I was so glad that he shared this to me, since like most of us I'm also finding difficulties making both ends meet for I'm also struggling financially. This thought gave me a sigh of relief and help me escaped from getting obsessed with wanting for more.

I think its about time to thank God our Almighty Creator for all the things he had gave us all these years of our existence. Stop wanting for things that are impossible to acquire. It is okay to be optimistic but its not a bad idea to be realistic at the same time, especially in this trying times where we live in a real world facing real problems.

If I'll count all the blessings God already gave me, my lists would include God's grace for his divine providence, my fiancee who happens to be my personal assistant and bestest friend hehehe, supportive and loving parents, my siblings and relatives, good health since I haven't gotten to serious health problems until now, my best friend who is besides me even in the times of trouble, my also supportive colleagues and superiors, cheap thrills (like playing with my pets, playing my favorite sport chess and winning, getting correct answers in a very difficult math problems, etc.) and a lot more. If I'll count my blessings maybe I'm rich enough, but I'll try to accumulate priceless valuables more, for I'm sure if I'll keep on doing this all the cobwebs about acquiring earthly things will be eliminated on my mind, since almost all things that can be bought by money can be broken and fade as time goes by.

In few minutes, you'll be able to know your true wealth by counting your blessings. I guess you better start counting your blessings now and make your own lists of wonderful valuables that are already in your possession that cannot be bought with money or cannot be traded with fame and power. Remember that the longer the lists you can have, the richer you'll get in your now enlightened heart and mind.

In a dog eat dog world we live in, our desire for money, luxury, gadgets and all other stuffs that are considered vanities are priorities in most people's lives, including me, hehehe. Things that gives us joy that money cannot buy are always taken for granted and worst forgotten in our money-conscious mind. Most of us are always busy and things that are important are often ignored.

Awesome hub. We really are so much richer than we realize. Material wealth is really nothing but an illusion...real wealth is the kind that's made out of love and happiness, and is felt deep within. Thanks for that reminder :)
