# How to convert a fraction into a percent (fractions to percents)

In this article we shall be changing a fraction to a percent. To do this, convert the fraction to a new fraction with 100 on the denominator.

Let’s look at some questions on how to convert a fraction to a percent.

Question 1

Convert 48/200 to a percent.

Firstly:

48/200 = x/100

All you need to do is work out the numerator (x) of the equivalent fraction.

Now the denominator of the first fraction has to be divided by 2 to give 100, so you also need to divide the numerator of the fraction by 2 (48 ÷ 2)

So:

48/200 = 24/100

Therefore, 48/200 as a percent is 24%.

Question 2

Convert 415/500 to a percent.

Firstly:

415/500 = x/100

All you need to do is work out the numerator (x) of the equivalent fraction.

Now the denominator of the first fraction has to be divided by 5 to give 100, so you also need to divide the numerator of the fraction by 5 (415 ÷ 5)

So:

415/500 = 83/100

Therefore, 415/500 as a percent is 83%.

Question 3

Convert 102/300 to a percent.

Firstly:

102/300 = x/100

All you need to do is work out the numerator (x) of the equivalent fraction.

Now the denominator of the first fraction has to be divided by 3 to give 100, so you also need to divide the numerator of the fraction by 3 (102 ÷ 3)

So:

102/300 = 34/100

Therefore, 102/300 as a percentage is 34%.
