How to study for 10 Hours without getting depressed
This is a question most people want an answer to. Personally, I have never pulled off a stunt such as this. I have studied for a maximum of eight hours before succumbing to mental fatigue.
However, do I think that it is possible? Yes, absolutely. If you are resilient enough, then you can study for the entire day, although I am not encouraging it.
So how to study for 10 hours without getting depressed? Here are a couple of tips which should help you.
1. Map out your day:
A day has 24 hours, out of which you have to sleep for a minimum of 8 hours (to be refreshed enough for the next day), and say, 2 hours for everything else (shower, bathroom, brushing your teeth, eating, etc.)
This leaves you 14 hours a day. Those 14 hours that you have should be utilized to its fullest. Make a list of all the subjects that you want to cover. Take everything into account like making notes, homework, self study, memorization, etc.
Then allot reasonable time for each. Divide all the items on the list into what needs to be covered in the morning and what needs to be done in the evening. Once you have mapped out your day, the first step is over.
2. Take breaks:
If you think you can study for 10 hours at a stretch, then you are kidding yourself. If you do manage to sit in front of the table for 10 hours, chances are that there is very less going inside your head. The idea is also to be productive.
After studying for 50 minutes, be sure to take a break of 10 minutes. Don’t sit down in front of the T.V or computer because both will distract you, and your ten minutes will stretch to an hour (Happens to me all the time).
During those 10 minutes, walk around the house, talk to someone, or listen to some good music which will calm you down.
3. Switch between what you are doing:
This is important if you want to study for 10 hours a day. You need to switch between what you are doing. Like for instance, after studying for an hour, start making notes for what you’ve studied, then revert back to studying again, then allot some time to check your progress.

4. Physical exercise:
I swear to God, if you are not physically active, then your brain will also turn sluggish. Exercising will help to increase your attention span and will also make you less restless.
Always squeeze in 30-40 minutes of exercise daily, especially if you want to sit in front of table for 10 hours. Otherwise, go for a run or brisk walk- it will help clear your mind.
How often do you exercise?
5. Take a short nap:
You can take a short nap in the afternoon to feel refreshed for the evening half.
6. Self Reinforcement:
To stay positive, award yourself a small treat every week. It can be anything like going out for a movie, or talking to people, reading a book that you like or going online. Schedule one day in a week to do the things you like. Otherwise you will be become depressed, sad and unproductive. We don't want that, do we?
- You can’t suddenly sit to study for 10 hours. It takes practise.
- Keep yourself hydrated
- Smart snacking. Keep a small packet of nuts and raisins nearby and eat them every couple of hours.

Personally, I am not a big fan of studying for 10 hours a day. Even if I manage to do it for one day, I am pretty sure that I would collapse in exhaustion. So instead what I do is smart studying.
