Section 1 of 2. Savor Life's Joys.
It's important to sallow yourself to experience positive emotions and then to savor these experiences by prolonging them and reflecting on them. A good way to do this is to record positive experiences in a journal and to review them when you need a mood boost. The act of reminiscing is a new emotional experience in itself and you may sometimes enjoy reminiscing about an experience that wasn't very pleasant at the time such as accomplishing something that was very taxing and stressful at the time but of which you are very proud of. So, indulge yourself when you savor life's joys, you could even turn a difficult experience into a fond memory.
Here are some other ideas:
1. Make an artistic memento. A collage or scrapbook of an important memory is a good way to savor the experience.
2. Notice, describe, and recall pleasant mood states. Poems work great for this. For example, you might write a poem describing how you feel during a physical activity that you enjoy such as riding a bike. Frame and post your poem in a place where you can see it before you go riding.
