Human Anatomy Flash Cards - Anatomy Study Tools

Updated on April 2, 2011

Anatomy Flash Cards on Amazon

If you’re an anatomy and physiology student, you know that memorization is absolutely key to understanding how the body functions without a general knowledge of where organs, muscles, etc. are located and how they are all connected. Back when I was a biological sciences student, two of my favorite studying methods were to use a human anatomy coloring book as well as anatomy flash cards. One of my A&P professors recommended them and they truly are awesome study tools. So read on and learn how to ace your next A&P exam or quiz with this great study tool.

I also wrote another article about how useful a human anatomy coloring book can be. (Link will open in a new window).

Studying With Anatomy Flash Cards

Flash cards aren’t just for grade school! Anatomy flash cards are very helpful as a mnemonic (memorization) tool. While anatomy coloring books are also a great study tool, flash cards and coloring books combined are very unique but incredibly efficient ways to study for your next A&P exam or quiz.

Follow these tips to memorize organs and structures efficiently with your anatomy flash cards:

  • Set aside a few minutes to study with your anatomy flash cards on a daily basis. A lot of students in my classes had children and I would hear them say how their kids really loved to test their parents with the flash cards.
  • Anatomy flash cards are portable and as such, make sure to carry them with you! You can easily pull out a few and stick them in the pocket of your binder or keep the entire box in your purse. Review them whenever you have idle time. For example, sitting in the waiting room for an appointment or if you’re the passenger in a car, train or airplane.
  • If you’re not already using unique A&P study tools, then I definitely suggest that you try out anatomy flash cards. For even better results, try pairing with another study tool such as human anatomy coloring books. By using non-traditional study methods, you’ll have a much better chance of memorizing structures than by staring at your textbook for hours on end. When you memorize something, interactivity is key!

I would recommend using their site as you can find great prices on gently used sets and compare prices. You can easily spend $50 at your college’s bookstore because of their huge markup fees; shop online and save lots of money!

Make Your Own Anatomy Flash Cards

If you don’t spend to spend money on anatomy flash cards, you could always make your own by photocopying parts of your textbook, cutting them out and laminating them.

Wow....studying three languages at once must've been so difficult!! That is very impressive! I would've been pulling my hair out....hahaha Anatomy flash cards definitely helped me out in college. When I studied spanish in HS, I also used flash cards. When I was younger and had problems with multiplication, my mom sat me down and we made my own flash cards, using stickers and fun colors to gauge my interest. Flash cards really help with memorizing facts for all stages of life! :)

I have always found flash cards to be the best way to learn lots of facts quickly and efficiently. I studied Chinese, Russian and Farsi at the same time in college, and flash cards got me through. It looks like flashcards have come a long way in 30 years!
