IQ vs EQ vs SQ

Updated on December 16, 2014

It is said that the human brain has never been used to its full potential and is actually unmatched to any supercomputer. When we were born, we are simple and needy babies that manifest into intelligent thinking beings. Some of us have grown to be outstanding intellectual creators and mind boggling inventors, doctors and masonic creators. These special gifts of brilliance is not something that develops over time by just studying and practicing like math. Genius is a special gift manifested in a few that propels them to be the inventors, eye openers and healers of man.

With this said, I strongly believe that not all men were born equal, some people are blessed with special talents and gifts which allows them to stand out among any average citizen. There are those of us who were born with superior Intelligent Quotient, Magnificent Emotional Quotient and God like Spiritual quotient. these individuals are not often destined to walk the path of the average man, but their callings take them to a much greater path.

High or Low IQ
High or Low IQ

I.Q. - intelligence quotient, is an assessment or test of your ability to think and reason and solve on spot problems. Many people have heard about the IQ test and some have done it while others are either scared or just not interested in knowing how intelligent they may be, while for others its neither here nor there for them. Solving the rubicks cube in record term does not necessarily mean that you have a high IQ and have inherited bloodline from Einstein. The IQ score is a standardized way of comparing your ability with the majority of people the same age as you are. A score of 100 means that in comparison to these people in your general age group that you have basically an average intelligence.

People scoring in a range of 95 to 105 are of a normal intelligence or have an average IQ. Actual IQ score may vary plus or minus five points since it is very difficult to get an IQ score with complete accuracy. Keep in mind, there are many outside factors that may have a negative impact on your score. For instance, if you are not feeling well at the time of taking the test. Or perhaps you are distracted by something on that particular day or you have taken drugs that slows the performance of the brain. These things may affect your score. Additionally, IQ is not the be all end all of a person's abilities and skills in life. IQ score fails to measure things such as manual dexterity, musical talent, and a river of other abilities or talents that may lead you to many different successes in life. However, your score on an IQ test will give you a pretty accurate indication of the ability you possess to think, reason and solve problems which can often be critical in many phases of your life.

The table above show the amount of people and the level of Intelligent Quotients they possess. There are however larger scales of getting Intelligence Quotient such as that of race. All race of the capacity to be superior intelligent and all race has Extraordinary gifted individuals. They range from inventors, painters, musicians, medicine, athletes and many more.

The chart below was taken from ( and depicts the Intelligent Quotient of the Blacks, whites, Hispanics and of course the Asians.

IQ by Race

The chart depicted above shows that most blacks are of low intelligence while still producing exceptionally gifted individuals. The Hispanics are of mostly average average intelligence while producing exceptionally gifted individuals. The white race is of higher intelligence than both blacks and Hispanics and the Asians seem to be of mostly superior intelligence! We have no idea under what circumstances these scores were obtained nor the level of education of the people that they selected to do their test. I will also add that some of these IQ test are quite ridiculous and persons will show high IQ in one area and has no intelligence in others. This person with this single level of intelligence goes on to become world renown but has never and may never solve the rubic cube. Does that make him of low intelligence?

I myself have done several IQ test as a Black Individual and the results always came back as me having superior Intelligence, (think I will try taking over the planet next week) yet i am still doing my 9-5 coffee earning job. The images below shows some of the IQ test that i have scored online.

it’s important to remember that IQ test or any other similar tests cannot test your real intelligence, so if you get a very low score don’t panic, it might be that you’re just not familiar with those types of questions.

Emotional Intelligence
Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Quotient

While it is often misunderstood as intelligence quotient (IQ), Emotional Quotient is different because instead of measuring your general intelligence, it measures your emotional intelligence. Emotional Quotient is the ability to sense, understand and effectively apply the power and acumen of emotions to facilitate high levels of collaboration and productivity. In the business environment, Emotional Quotient is important because it helps you leverage your awareness of emotions for effectiveness in the workplace.

Emotional Quotient focuses on five points within interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligence. Intrapersonal intelligence is the ability to understand your own self while interpersonal intelligence is the ability to understand other people.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Empathy: This is the skill or ability to manage other people and understand each individuals emotional makeup.
  • Social Skills – A proficiency in managing and building good social relationship with peers and and others. Creating a productive yet friendly environment around yourself and others.

Intrapersonal Skills

  • Self-Awareness – The ability to recognize and understand your emotions and drives, as well as their effect on others. The ability to control your emotions when needed.
  • Self-Regulation – The ability to control or re-direct disruptive impulses and moods and the propensity to suspend judgment and think before acting.
  • Motivation – A passion to work for reasons that go beyond money and status and a propensity to pursue goals with energy and persistence.

There are many mixed reactions regarding emotional quotient level when it comes on to both genders (male and female) who possess leadership roles in the organization. It is widely believed that males possess little if not any emotional intelligence as they are unable to connect with socially or emotionally in the business world and execute very little empathy to others. Women on the other hand are more in-tuned to their emotional quotient and possess better socialization skills and are very empathic towards others.

One of the most arguable points regarding emotional quotient is that women possess too much emotions and has such will not make sensible business decisions, on the flip side of that a woman with a balanced IQ and EQ will make a superb leader.

Spiritual Quotient

Spiritual Quotient
Spiritual Quotient

Spiritual quotient (SQ) is a measure that looks at a person's spiritual intelligence in the same way as intelligence quotient (IQ) looks at cognitive intelligence. Human beings have six senses. Spirituality is the ability to recognize that there is intelligence beyond six senses. And this intelligence creates and governs everything within and beyond the worlds we know. We can surrender to this supreme intelligence through: awareness (also known as mindfulness), contemplation (self inquiry), and prayer (dedication). - wikipedia

There are actually billions of people who has never heard about Spiritual Quotient and as such as very little or no spiritual intelligence. They exist simply because they are alive and have no contact with their inner self. There are ways to trigger your Spiritual Quotient:

  • Meditation: Helps to relax the body and mind and allows a higher level of inner spirit contact.
  • External Awareness: know that we exist with other life forms such as trees and animals. Be aware of them and know the inter-connectivity.
  • Prayer: Praying brings hope and it helps to feed the soul nourishment.

Your IQ, EQ and SQ is what makes up all the intelligence factor as a human. Exercise and feed your intelligence on all levels will definitely allow you to matriculate into a better person.

I've ranged between above average and high on an IQ test, though I'm sure my kids disagree with me. ;)

Interesting, Clive, but I would have enjoyed it more if I could have taken all of the tests, and seen the results. IQ-wise, I know what my score has always been. Spiritual-wise, that score would have to be judged by God, and emotional-wise...well, that one is funny. My family has their own opinions about that.

One of my offspring thinks nothing really upsets me, another one thinks I am gullible beyond belief, and the other six keep their opinions to themselves - with the exception of the fact that they all agree I need a T-shirt that reads - "I am a sucker!"
