Did you know, that..

Did you ever know, that many people in the World uses czech inventions? What is interesting on it? Easily, i want to present to you czech "techy" culture.

Now, we will get it from the ground.

1. Explosives

Howgh, in late 50's of 20th century has been invented plastic explosive named Semtex by Stanislav Brebera.

What is interesting for me, at time of school months i live in city suburb, where the semtex has been invented - Semtin in Pardubice city. What is less good is huge explosion in the factory plant about 4 months ago. 3 people disappeared.

Semtex, for example, has been used in North Vietnam. 14 tons of this explosive has been shipped here in the wartime. Also, incredible 700 tons of semtex has been exported to Libya.
Nowadays, Semtex is a counterpart of US's C-4.

2. Lighting Rod

Somebody can tell, that inventor of Lighting rod is Benjamin Franklin, but everybody knows that inventors are always independent scientists. So then, our inventor is Václav Prokop Diviš ( prounounce as Deevish ) He was priest, scientist and theologian. Also he invented "first electronical music instrument" called golden dionysus or Denis d'or.

3. Do you use Contact Lenses?

Yes, contact lenses, used globally, are one of the biggest czech inventions. Otto Wichterle was a Czech chemist and inventor, best known for his invention of modern contact lenses. By late 1961 he succeeded in producing the first four hydrogel contact lenses on a home-made apparatus built using a children's building kit (Merkur). You can easily browse Youtube for keyword Merkur. Lets a look, it is interesting tool, even for adult children.

4. Czeko - high quality methamphetamine

The Czech Republic has a relatively long tradition in the addictive and problem use of methamphetamine, which is called “pervitin” locally. Methamphetamine, a powerful stimulant drug, was first synthesized from ephedrine under the name “pervitin” by A. Ogata in Japan (Ogata, 1919). Similarly to amphetamine (Benzedrine and Dexedrine1), its medical and paramedical use increased in the 1920s and 1930s as well as during World War II, when powerful stimulant drugs were used by military troops. Amphetamine (commonly known as Benzedrine) was preferred by the Allies and methamphetamine by the Axis states—primarily Germany and Japan. But, in late time, especially because of isolation by communist party, czech people invented metamphetamine for themselves. Why Czeko? Because people from abroad travelled to Czechia because of high quality pervitine. Czech Republic and especially Prague was called "Eastern Amsterdam".

6. Lump Sugar

Do you like sweet coffee? Maybe you are using czech invention just now. Czech republic has been estate in Sugar export in history. Nowadays, unfortunately, political garniture and opportunists destroyed all of them. I can remember that we had sugar refinery in our city too. But, it has been demolished. Instead of refinery, you can find there nothing and shopping mall. What?

The inventor was Jakub Krystof Rad, managing director of Dačice sugar refinery.

5. Plastic Surgery

So, you think that inventors of plastic surgery are american people? I can tell you, that first plastic surgery ward of the World has been founded in 1927. Nowadays, celebrities and other people can "enjoy" this thansfully to two czech professors Frantisek Burian and Arnold Jirasek.
But, they used plastic surgery for serious health difficulties like clefts or severe burns.

7. Ship Propeller

Do you remember scene from movie Titanic, when Rose leans over handrail to take a look at huge ship propeller? Since now, you now that ship propeller has been invented by Josef Ressel. Interesting is, that Czech republic don't have acces to sea. Wow.

That's not end of all, This hub will be upgraded soon. So if you are interested in, please come back, you are welcome!

First safety-catch had been opened in Czechoslovakia in 1951! First client was russian navy engineer.

The people will get doctor care and a bed. That's all. These stations exists all over the world now, for example St. Louis safety-catch is inspired by our first safety catch.

If you will visit Czech republic and will hear "Odvezte ho na záchytku", you are the lucky one!

Do You drink an alcohol? Not! Only beer!

Do not mess around with Czechs, they know what they doing. ROBOT is another czech invention introduced by a fabous dramatician and writer Karel Capek. Word ROBOT stands for an artificial substitute of man's manual labour known as ROBOTA. the prove lays in Capek's drama "R.U.R" - Rozum's Universal Robots.

Another example of Czech originality is American Dollar that took name from former old czech currency "Tolar". And then who's the copycat? You can czech this out in history textbooks, encyclopedies etc.

      Nashledanou folks!
