Is There Life in Outer Space?

Updated on December 11, 2016

Has it happened to you?  It has happened to me.   No we are not talking about alien abduction.  I am talking about witnessing something you cannot explain.  I did and it left me wondering.  I was star gazing in my back yard.  My eyes were drawn to a a star moving in the sky.  Was it a star?  The light was faint and as tiny as a star.. but it moved horizontal across the sky.  And it did not move in an exact straight line either.  It moved erratically, but nevertheless across the sky.  I followed it with my naked eye until it flew out of sight.  No more movement.   I stayed there for 30 minutes trying to see if there was another one. But nothing.   Was it a spaceship?  Was it something not of this Earth?

My heart of hearts tells me there there is more out there than we know.. There has to be something more than just Man.  Space is just way  too big for just us!  There are many things to support the theory of life on other planets.

The Icy soil dug up by Mars Rover
The Icy soil dug up by Mars Rover

Take a look about what they are doing on Mars. At least two rovers are wandering round the planet taking samples and sending data back to the Earth. Rovers Spirit and Opportunity are going at a snails pace but collecting analysis of dirt samples and taking pictures. You can find a collection of these pictures and data at The Rovers have collected evidence of water on the red planet. Digging up pockets of ice from the martian terrain. Not exactly Life but evidence that supports it. The Phoenix discovered evidence of water on June of 2008 . Even in February of 2009 the phoenix photographed what appeared to be dropletsof water on one of it's legs. The Hubble satellite is orbiting around Mars capturing Bird's eye view  of the polar ice caps on either end of the Planet.

Is there proof on Earth that there is life in outer space?

There is some proof on this Earth that alien life forms exist.. Many have speculated about how the pyramids were built with out the use of modern technology. Huge blocks of stone were placed on top of each other by man and the use of pulleys? Maybe if Egyptians were maybe huge back then.

Stonehenge on Easter Island also has been a source of mystery. What does this structure mean? Also how was this structure erected? Many have claimed that an advanced technology was used to erect the large stones. How was this accomplished with the Polynesian people in 2950 BC?

Whose faces did they carve and for what reason. The Easter Island Heads also known as Moia have been linked to celebrating the Gods. These statues in themselves were around 82 tons and there were nearly 882 of them on the island. Due to their extreme weight it is difficult to ascertain how they were made. A far fetched theory was given about how aliens could have crashed on Easter Island and molded the Moia out of volcanic rock..

The Bermuda Triangle also known as he Devil's Triangle has caused many ships and planes to go missing. A theory about aliens suggests Anti-gravity technology or other otherworldly energies may be sent off by either a downed UFO, as many of the early reports of the Triangle believed. Also, the Triangle may provide an undersea Earth base for aliens who value privacy, and send out energies to confuse vessels coming a little too close to home.

Crop circles have been cropping up all over the place! Believe it or not crop circles have been around since the 17th century. Most crop circles are man made, such as those in the slideshow.. Theories abound about aliens landing and making the shape of the circles. Some crop circles in question haven proven to be created by ionized air.

Are these enough to convince us there is life in outer space?

Is there proof with in the government that there is life in outer space?

There have been many reported sightings and claims of alien abduction. These have been reported and documented by the government. Many have speculated that there are government conspiracies to keep us from finding out the truth. The following are a few examples of the most popular government conspiracies about possible life in outer space.

Area 51

This military base is notorious for it secretivenss. Mnay have specualted that there is a large association between theis base and Unideintified flying objects. The base's mission is for top secret experimental aircraft and weapon's systems. It is located in the Nevada desert and has at least 25 miles of restricted air space

Project blue book

Project Blue Book was a task force from the Air Force to "investigate" UFO sightings. At least that is what the government told us. It's real purpose was to catalog the sightings and pictures and to try to put the community at rest. From 1947 to 1969, a total of 12, 618 sightings were reported to Project Blue Book. 701 of those sightings were reported to be unidentified.. Project Blue Book closed down in 1969 and does not have any information regarding sightings after that. The sightings are in archive and available to the public. It is reported there is 3 cubic feet or nearly 6000 pages collected about UFO sightings by the Office of Special Investigations. These investigations have been microfilmed and are available for viewing if you go to the archive.

Interestingly enough this statement is made on the webpage concerning the archives:

Periodically, it is erroneously stated that the remains of extraterrestrial visitors are or have been stored at Wright-Patterson AFB. There are not now nor ever have been, any extraterrestrial visitors or equipment on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

UFO buffs boast that actual alien remains were taken for a crash site in Roswell New Mexico. The incident allegedly happened on July 8, 1947, when the Roswell Army Air field had recovered a "flying disk" and reembodies of aliens form a crash site. This incident was forgotten and dismissed as a "weather balloon" until 1978. A Major Jeffery Marcel was interviewed in 1978. He discussed that alien autopsies had been preformed at the Roswell site. An investigation in 1995. Project Mongol as it was called was described to be weather balloons. A second report released in 1997 stated "The second report, released in 1997, concluded that reports of recovered alien bodies were likely a combination of: innocently transformed memories of military accidents involving injured or killed personnel; innocently transformed memories of the recovery of anthropomorphic dummies in military programs like Project High Dive conducted in the 1950s; and hoaxes perpetrated by various witnesses and UFO proponents"

Do You Believe?

I it is difficult for me to believe that mankind exists alone in the Universe.  Outer Spaceis just too big and mysterious not to have other life forms. There are many hoax's of course and many people who want attention or to make a buck.   With today's technology cell phones Internet and cameras  and all the advances in outer space it won't be long until some new undeniable information is readily available to us. Something to prove there is more than just us.  When that happens will we be ready?  ;)

Do you beleive in extraterrestials?

I honestly think there could be a possibility of life on different planets I.e micro organisms and the possibility or even probability that we need to pull the wool fron our eyes and stop believing what everyone else is telling us. We live our life just from the word of another person, whos to say there not wrong or the next person isn't wrong. Just because someone says something dosnt mean there right. Have you ever seen a trillion pounds? Just because it isn't there doesn't mean its not achualy there...think about it

Through my telescope, years ago, while looking at a random field of stars, I saw a point of light, moving, which I assumed was a Russian or American satellite...suddenly, it banged a RIGHT ANGLE turn in nothing flat! This was around 11;00 at night. Venus, high flying weather balloon, seagull, etc......all ruled out! Dear reader, you call it what you want but I just know what I saw!

Well, in your article you ask "How was this accomplished with the Polynesian people in 2950 BC?" on the subject of Stonehenge, and I would really like to point out the answer: It wasn't. Stonehenge is in Britain. Not on Easter Island. So there were no Polynesians involved in Stonehenge at all (unless of course, there were some really incredible seagoing Polynesians that wanted to vacation in Britain at the time).

Anyway, aliens are an interesting topic but while I don't think we are alone in the universe, I certainly don't believe alien life has interfered with our activity on earth at any point in time.

Why should we all discuss this? "theres life in outer space" "NO THERES NOT".. Unfortunately there is. 50 years ago, did we even think we could fly into space? No we thought it was impossible. We look what happened. We did. Nowadays people are talking about "Will we be able to Teleport/Travel in space" in time, yes we will be able to. Why would us humans just come up with an idea such as "Teleporting" if it can't happen. Its meant to happen. We are meant to evolve and become an advanced society. In time this shit will happen. One day we will be flying to a planet that isn't as advanced as us and they will be wondering "What are those flying things in the air" it will be us. Learning about them just like the "ufos" we see today. They are learning about us. In time it will come. Teleporting, Time traveling, Enormously huge spacecrafts, humans living on mars will all happen. Of course. Not in our lifetime.

in physics i learnt that each grain of sand on earth (the beaches, sea beds, deserts) is equivalent to a hundred million stars producing its own heat, now for us to think that we are the only life out there is ridicilious.

For all we know the universe has been around for all eternity and perhaps we are the last living organisms to inhabit a planet in the milky way but no chance that we are alone. We need to evolve, nucleur shouldn't concern war but rather use it as energy to travel and discover in space. we barely know our own ocean for Gods sake!

"If aliens are looking for intelligent life, then we have nothing to worry about"

Hehe, can't help but quote that, sorry.

Very interesting, although I have decided to not read strange things in the crack of dawn, or any unorthodox times, like midnight.

      They give me chills.

We're not that special, come on. We're just so close minded and immature to block out things like that.

Positively yes! If you think about it rationally, the universe is infinite with a sextillion number of stars, wouldn't that mean there's an infinite chance there's life? I find it highly arrogant to think mankind is so special and are the only intelligent/sentient life out there.

Yeah we have advanced.. but I don't think when we finally meet up with some other life form that it will just be a handshake...

Maybe others from different world have recognized this and that is why they have stayed away.. but just like humans I believe there would be a few rogue aliens who would make contact, with someone, somewhere on the planet...

I agree with you. I believe we will always strive to travel in space. It is our nature to explore. Another reason they may not want to visit us is that we may pose a danger to them. Human history proved over and over that we fear what we don't understand and have a tendency to destroy what we fear! I would like to think we have advanced since our worst days, but I don't think we are out of the woods yet!

jkeil1, Great comment! Are we being visited by superior intelligences? maybe. I like your assumption that any other life form out there would be superior to us. I am thinking life forms in the universe might be too complex for us to imagine and that there may be no comparison. I disagree with the comment that we would never have cause to travel. man is curious and will always want to explore.

I think Steven Hawkings' warning rings true. Not because the alien life form would be seeking to destroy us, but because we collectively the human race can be our own worst enemy...

I like most of you have often contemplated the existence of similar life in space. Like you logic dictates that it exists. However, the question which is more commonly considered is are we being visited by superior intelligences. My theory is this. We are in the process of trying to visit other planets. We contenplate how we would get there, how long it would take and if we would survive. further, if we were to accomplish such a feat, would we find creatures friendly to us or would they try to destroy us. Hawking recently suggested that we may not want to have visitors from space, as they might harm us as we did the natives of America when the first Europeans arrived here. I strongly believe that if the day ever comes when we are capable of building a craft which might carry us to a far off planet or solar system, we will be advanced enough that we will no longer have the need to do so. That is why I do not believe aliens ever have or ever will in the forseable future, try to communicate with us directly. If they have the ability to do so, they probably have the wherewithall to know all they need to know about us. They would likely have already used probes to determine everything they want to know about us without us even knowing it happened. When we get to the level that would allow us to travel to such a place, we might be advanced enough that someone out there might want to talk to us.

Theres an article out currently about possible life on one of Saturns moons. Microbes of course. the odds are pretty good that theres intelligent life out there.

Europanxstp. I don't dismiss some of the storys. but I don't embrace them either. I can say that during my time in the Military there were several Sightings around the base. cant say what they were. but Id bet the odds were for TS military test craft. but three had fighters scrambled to intercept.

as long as I don't get drunk on a back country road in Overalls and probed I guess Ill never know for sure. LOL

Back in the 1960s, my Dad subscribed to a newsletter from the National Investigative Committee for Aerial Phenomenona. An interesting subject, certainly, UFOs and aliens.

What seems to be a mathematical certainty is that there is lots of life in the universe. Experiments at one of the universities in California showed that simple organic compounds impacting at velocities comparable to that of meteors hitting the ground resulted in an increase in organic complexity. Though it didn't "create" life, it moved chemicals closer to that elusive threshold.

The real problem is estimating the amount of intelligent life out there. While the Drake equation is interesting, it assumes things that may be wrong. Would evolution really ever lead to intelligent, civilization-creating species? Or were Homo sapiens a fluke? Or were Homo sapiens genetically engineered, or created directly (not through evolution) by God? And even if there were other intelligent species out there, would they ever use radio, or would they find it too primitive a technology? SETI may be listening to empty static, and it may be no one is phoning home.

Personally, I like the idea of alien civilizations, but that's just the imaginative writer in me.

Nice vid and article. As I age my doubts grow as to finding or being visted by UFO's. In all these years man has been here there is not one record of it or real documented and credited proof. Where are the ufo's? Are we all alone? Why do we see strange things in the skies but never no real contact? is it all a hoax? By the way a lot of what you see in the vid above is space junk put there by us.

I believe in extraterrestials because the universe is too big only for us earthlings ..., and I am almost sure that they are watching us but they avoid contacts because they don't like neighbours who cannot keep their house in order.

Ms. Very interesting Hub. Logic tells us that with the thousands and thousands of stars (like our sun) out there that there must be some form of life. It just does not make sense that life would be limited to this one planet.

However I think a more interesting question might be is there really life here on earth. Or maybe asked differently, how much life is there here on earth. I am talking about the vast majority of people who waste what precious life they have. I see far too many people who never venture out of their comfort zone. They are "sleep-walking" through life.

While it is an interesting question to ponder, to me a more pressing question is how do you get people on earth to wake up to life before their life is gone.
