The program is a wonderful opportunity for individuals interested in a career as a substitute teacher or just a part-time job with flexibility.

I have been with Kelly Educational Staffing since July 2012, and am enjoying it immensely. The following list describes the benefits for substitute teachers who work for Kelly Educational Staffing:
Once a person is an accepted employee for Kelly Educational Staffing, they are eligible for insurance benefits. There are four tiers of health benefits to choose from, and there are also eye and dental packages that can be added onto the basic package for additional coverage. The health insurance plans are provided by Leslie and Associates. To qualify for these benefits, a Kelly Educational Staffing employee must be available to work a minimum of 24 hours per week, regardless of whether or not they actually work that many hours. The insurance available to Kelly Educational Staffing employees includes not only medical insurance but other options such as a prescription drug plan, group life insurance, short-term disability income, group home and auto discount programs
Being Able to Choose Substitute Teaching Positions
Substitute teaching positions are available online through the KASS system. When a teacher or teacher's aide know they will be absent on a certain day, or days, they can go online and enter their information. Substitute teachers can access this website daily on a 24 hour per day basis, and sign up for the positions. Often these become available the day or evening before, so a sub will know where they will be working the day before the job begins. Sometimes a teacher will know they will be out for 2 or 3 days the following week and can enter those dates a week in advance.
Also, if a teacher has worked with a particular sub before, and likes their work and knows that the children enjoy that sub, they can request that particular sub and Kelly Educational Staffing will call that substitute teacher first to see if they are available and would like to substitute for that teacher on the specific days she will be out. If the sub is not available, only then will Kelly Educational Staffing open the job to other substitutes.
This is a wonderful option for substitute teachers to use because they don't have to wonder if they will get a call the day of the position opening. This affords them the opportunity to plan ahead for the grade they will be teaching and travel time to the job site. It may even offer them a better night's sleep if they know in advance that they will not receive a call in the early hours of the morning. For teachers who call out sick on a certain morning, Kelly Educational Staffing office staff do make those early morning calls to fill needed spots, but for the most part, a pro-active substitute teacher can plan their jobs in advance using this system.
When originally applying to be a substitute teacher with Kelly Educational Staffing, one must fill out an application and send a resume. An applicant must have at least a bachelor's degree to work for the company. Once the application is filled out and a resume submitted, the applicant is called in for a training session. During this three hour session, paperwork is completed, and a one-hour training is provided to explain the types of situations a substitute teacher may encounter, and the best ways to deal with these situations. Substitute teachers do get paid for this one hour of training. After being accepted as a substitute teacher by the Kelly program, online training is also available. Most of the sessions cost $2.50 each and are all online. Therefore payment is requested in the form of a debit or credit card online. But the training provided is well worth the minimal charge. When a substitute teacher signs a contract with Kelly Educational Staffing, they become an employee of the company and are eligible for a 401K plan after they have completed one day of substitute teaching.The funds will stay in an account and are eligible to be released to the substitute teacher after they terminate their employment with Kelly Educational Staffing. There is a convenient payroll deduction component to the program.
Kelly Educational Staffing employees get paid on a weekly basis. They have a choice of being paid in an actual paper check mailed to them or an optional direct deposit choice. By the Sunday night following each work week, employees must access the online website, review their previous week's schedule, fill in their hours, and save the information. They will receive a paycheck for their work the next week, eight days later if they choose to have their paychecks mailed.

A substitute teacher can choose the dates, positions, and towns in which they want to work.
