Live Butterfly Garden Live Butterfly Kit

Updated on July 20, 2010

Live Butterfly Garden Kit

I recently saw the infomercial for Live Butterfly Garden running on tv.  Not only do I love this for the educational value, but Live Butterfly Garden grow your own butterfly kits really hit home for me because of a memory I had as a child at a wedding.

I remember when my Aunt was getting married.  My sister and I were getting in a fight over who got the first piece of cake when someone from the wedding came around and took us behind the altar where my Aunt was getting married and showed us these cages full of Monarch Butterflies.

Not only were the Monarch Butterflies gorgeous, but when you are a kid and get to see hundreds of them climbing around a cage and you aren't grossed out by bugs and insects at that point, it is a seriously cool thing and something that sticks with you and that you remember.  I also remember sitting there during the wedding with my sister waiting for them to finish tying the knot because not only was everyone waiting for that moment, none of them knew about the butterfly launch, except for my Aunt and Uncle and the wedding staff and photographers.  When they finally kissed, the butterflies were released and I still remember seeing all of these gorgeous butterflies flying all over the background and my aunt and uncle standing on the altar.  It was amazing.  The thing we didn't get to see was how the butterflies were caught or hatched.

A few weeks before the wedding, My Aunt and Uncle had a bunch of boxes they ordered (via mail internet back then).  They found a vendor that sold grow your own butterfly kits and also found one that sold the type of butterfly they wanted (Monarch).  They then followed pretty much the same exact instructions and used a very similar kit as the Live Butterfly Garden kit you have seen on tv.  The only real difference between their Live Butterfly Garden Kit and the As Seen On TV Live Butterfly Garden Kit is that instead of getting and having to grow and hatch hundreds of butterflies, you only have to worry about 5 or 10 butterflies.  Not only are the butterfly kits fun to grow and fun for your kids, but they are educational for them as well.

You can use these grow your own butterfly kits to teach your kids about growing up, about lifecycles, how you have to let things go, science, reproduction without having to be graphic and answering questions about where babies come from, responsibility, following instructions and directions as well as how to take care of things.  These are not only extremely important life lessons to teach kids when they are young, but because the grow your own live butterfly garden kit is fun, they won't mind learning since they will also be having fun and because the process is dependent on them and sort of interactive.

I love the hatch your own butterfly kits and think that the infomercial for Live Butterfly Garden is an excellent one for you to have or buy.  Not only is it educational, but it'll a lot of fun for you to do with your kids.  There are a ton of options out there for Live Butterfly Gardens so I'll leave it up to you to find your favorite.

      Hi Denise,

I agree. I will always remember seeing them at my Aunt's wedding which is why when I saw the Live Butterfly Garden infomercial on tv I instantly had to create a hub about it.

I'm heading over to read your hubs now.

      Thanks for reading!

Interesting hub. I love butterflies as you can tell by my profile photo. I actually plan on writing a hub about butterflies myself. Thanks for putting this out here. The visual of the flight of the butterflies at the wedding is something!
