Human blood ph should be slightly alkaline (7.35-7.45). Below or above this range makes our bodies more susceptible to many different symptoms and diseases. An acidic body is a magnet for illness. A ph below 7.0 is acidic. A ph above 7.0 is alkaline.

An acidic system can result from acid forming foods, emotional stress, an overload of toxins from our environment, any immune reaction or process that deprives our cells of oxygen and other nutrients, (i.e. Lyme spirochetes specifically seek out Magnesium which our immune system needs in order to maintain itself - The Top 10 Lyme Disease Treatments ) Our bodies try to compensate for acidic ph by using alkaline minerals but if a diet does not contain enough minerals, a buildup of acids will occur in the cells. An acidic balance will decrease our body’s ability to absorb minerals and other nutrients, decrease energy production in our cells and its ability to repair damaged cells, decrease the body’s ability to detoxify heavy metal, help tumor cells to thrive and proliferate and make it more vulnerable to disease and illness. Chronic infections such as Lyme disease can flourish more easily in a toxic or acidic environment because both (Lyme and toxins) weaken and disable the immune system. A blood ph of 6.9 (slightly acidic) can cause coma and death. Our body is always striving for equilibrium.

Acidosis is more common in our society because of acid producing animal products, including dairy, white flour and sugar (one teaspoon of white sugar actually suppresses the immune system for or 14 hours), coffee, alcohol, and soft drinks, pharmaceutical drugs, and artificial chemical sweeteners. Generally, alkaline forming foods include a wide variety of multicolored vegetables, most fruits (lemons and watermelon are extremely alkaline), seeds and nuts, some lean (preferably organic) meat, poultry, and fish, some grains, seasonings and most herbs.

Why Is Gluten Harmful?

Gluten is the protein part of the wheat. It is sticky and nitrogenous. Wheat, oatmeal, and barley are high in gluten. Eating gluten forms mucus and coats the villi, projections on the walls of the small intestines. Villi absorb nutrients from liquid and digested foods. However, when the villi are coated with mucus they cannot absorb nutrients very well. Over time gluten builds up like a plastic film in the small intestines and interferes with food assimilation. The waxes most often applied to fruits and vegetables are made of shellac. Paraffin, palm oil, or synthetic resin. They are recognized as safe by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. They are used to make vegetables and fruits look shiny and fresh, seal in moisture, and retard spoilage. However, also mixed in with the waxes to prevent mold and rot are fungicides. These fungicides are toxic and accumulate in the body over time causing cancer and other diseases. A Few Facts About Food Combining

It is best to eat fruits at breakfast and on an empty stomach (one piece a day for Lyme sufferers). They’re easily digestable. If you eat them with any other food, especially vegetables and grains, the other food combines with the fruit and prevents the body from absorbing nutrients quickly and eliminating the waste. All fruits, except bananas, dates and dried fruits stay in the stomach for 1-2 hours. But combined with a vegetable or grain, a fruit will stay in the stomach for 3 or more hours and form acids, not alkalines. Therefore, you are not getting the full benefit of the fruit. Apples may be combined with any vegetable and lettuce may be combined with fruit.

Vegetables combine with everything except fruit. There are starchy and non starchy vegetables. Starchy vegetables should not be eaten with a protein. Never eat sweet fruits with a meal.
