Martin Luther King
Happy Birthday Martin
Martin Luther King, Jr. (called M.L) was born on January 15th, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. His parents were the Rev. Martin Luther King Sr. and Alberta Williams King. He had one sister named Christine and one brother named Alfred Daniel (called A.D).
Martin Luther King, Jr. loved his Aunt and Grandmother read books to him, when he was little. They would read books to him about adventures.
I like books and stories too! These are my favorites: 'Kensuke's Kingdom' by Michael Morpurgo. 'The Amazing Story Of Adolphus Tips' by Michael Morpurgo and 'Kaspar Prince Of Cats' also by Michael Morpurgo.
Hobbies and interests
Martin Luther King, Jr. loved singing, music, reading, learning new things and sharing his ideas with others. He was good at a lot of things!
I'm good at singing, acting, running, swimming, badminton, hockey, netball and cross country.
Hurting and sadness
Martin Luther King, Jr. and his brother were very sad when his white friends were forbidden to play with them anymore!
I was sad when my dog called Buddy died. He was a Jack Russell cross between a Staffordshire bull terrier. He was put down because of a back injury. He was paralyzed from the back down!
Two weeks after he was put to sleep his brother Duke developed asimilar problem and his owner had to have him put to sleep too. They both ended up buried next to each other. I cried a lot. We all did.
My birthday is not a national holiday like Martin's
Martin Luther King's birthday is celebrated all over the United States, it is now a national Holiday.
Here is how I like to celebrate my Birthday.
We have a tradition in our family every birthday, and Christmas Day we all come together in our parents room and we meditate and say a prayer together. Then we give each other the presents and we always make our own cards for each other.
I also celebrate my Birthday going out for a meal with my Family or going to the cinema. I also some years, celebrate my Birthday by having a little party with my friends.
I too have a dream like Martin
Martin Luther King, Jr. had “a dream that one day...little black boys and little black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and little white girls as sisters and brothers.”
(Martin Luther King, Jr., August 28th, 1963)
I also have a dream that one day all bullying would stop! That it wouldn't matter if you had red hair or it didn't matter that you were different. I have a dream just like Martin Luther King, Jr.
My Dad used to always say to me before a race that every girl lined up had two arms and two legs just like me. He told me that every race is won or lost in my mind.
I want to be a great leader someday like MLK. We both have the same number of arms and legs and I am practising in my mind.
Please watch this video because I love the way he says that he fears no man!
What a man!
