My Graduation Speech

My Graduation Speech

Graduation. In a lot of ways, it's the end of something novel, something we looked forward to with anticipation when we were in elementary school. But on the other hand, graduation is a giant leap forward. In a few months, you will be moving into a dorm room, or an apartment, or even staying exactly where you are and commuting to school. But no matter where you're headed, whether you're going to a four year or a two year or doing something else, this moment is universal. This moment, right now, is where it all begins.

You can choose to make new friends or you can choose to keep the old. You can decide upon a completely different major than you ever imagined you'd pursue. You can branch out, try new things, and explore unique opportunities. This moment is one of the most magical moments of your life, because right now, you have the ability to choose who you are and where you're going. The decisions you make from here on out will be your own, and they will determine the path of your future. This is the moment you will look back on either with regret, wishing you had done things differently afterward, or with happy nostalgia, as the moment it all began. This is the moment when your life begins. Take a deep breath, cherish this moment, and decide who you want to be. The future is yours. Make it happen.
