  • Your relationship with your children
  • Your career
  • Your personal finances
  • Your personal growth as a person
  • Your physical fitness
  • Your relationship with friends
  • Your relationship with your parents and family.

May You Know All the Fullness of God and His Love for You!

Set Resolutions for Your Spiritual Life

This first area of life is for the devout. Often people get too bogged down in the day to day grind and forget about their souls. Scheduling time to restore the heart and soul is important to a balanced life. Furthermore, there is a Living God in heaven who loves you and wants a personal relationship with you. Seek him every day and he promises to give you the desires of your heart.

Long-term Growth Includes Growing Closer to Your Spouse

Although this one may not apply to all, if you do have a spouse, should resolve to strengthen that bond in areas like communication, quality and quantity time together, and determining mutual goals for family and finances.

Set Resolutions for Relationships with Your Children

For fathers and mothers, setting resolutions to Improve your relationships with your children is another important area of concern. John Lennon wrote: "Life is what happens when we're busy making plans." Fathers and mothers are often so preoccupied that they fail to spend quality time with their children. In order to have influence in your child's life, you must be intentional about cultivating a close relationship.

May Your Career Advance to New Heights!

Make Goals to Enhance Your Career

A important part of a long-term growth plan is your career. In order to enhance your career or career prospects it is a good idea to write career enhancment goals. Career enhancment goals might include continued education or obtaining a more challenging, rewarding position.

Let Your Purse Overflow!

Set Resolutions for Personal Finances

Personal finances is another area to include in your long-term planning. How much do you want to save in the coming year? How much do you want to give away to charity? What is a reasonable budget for food, housing, and transportation? Where would you like to go for your next vacation? All these highlight the importance of considering personal finances when you sit down to write out New Year's resolutions.

Long-Term Growth Comes with Personal Enhancement Goals

Besides spiritual and career growth plans, each year a person should stop and consider how they want to grow as a person. How can you enhance your mental and emotional capacity? What kind of books do you want to read? What new hobby would you like to take up? All these are included in setting long-term growth plans for personal growth.

Set Resolutions for Physical Fitness

Physical fitness in the way of dieting or setting up a workout routine are common areas included in many people's New Year's resolution. And, of course, it should be. You only have one body and you can only do as much as that body will allow you to do. Physical fitness goals should be a part of every individual's growth and wellness plan.

And May Your Relationships Grow Stronger and Closer!

Set Aside Time for Friendships

In this busy culture in which we live, it is often difficult to find time to cultivate meaningful relationships. Because this is the case, it is wise to plan friendships into your weekly or monthly schedule. We all need others to interact with and share our lives. When setting your long-term growth plans, it is an imperative that you include development of friendships in the mix.

Spend Time with Your Parents

This last one is most certainly not the least. Maintaining a close relationship with your parents and other family members is another important endeavor to pursue. Like the old song Cats in the Cradle so poignantly highlights, time slips away fast and it is the one's who love us the most who are often left shortchanged for time and attention. Enhancing your relationship with your parents and other loved ones should be included in your list of important achievements for the coming year.
