Norway spent $ 25 billion to build bridges submerged tubular to pass through the Gulf of FIO

Authorities Norway is expected to spend $ 25 billion to build the road system tubular form circular tunnel, lies submerged under the sea surface to connect traffic between the Gulf FIO this country, can shorten the time moving from 21 hours down to 11 hours.

Norway has around 1190 Gulf FIO (fjord), this is the canyon, also known as U-shaped fjord created by glaciers millions of years ago. Use ferry travel can be exploited because visitors can admire around the fjords, however, very time consuming, so Norway plans to build underground transport system to reduce sea surface travel time when using a car and public transport.

Tubular tunnel system lies in the upgrade project E39 highway in Norway, is the route between Kristiansand in southern Norway in the north to Trondheim. The pipeline will be installed is sinking below sea level 30,5m (100 feet), including two parallel tubes with one-way and one-way on each pipe wide enough for two lanes. At a depth of 30.5m below the sea surface, the pipeline will help traffic move safely, is not affected by extreme weather in Norway, and also not to trip pipe Bottom / propeller of the passing boats. it is expected that this system will sink pipe length of about 1100km, passing 7 FIO fjords in Norway, including the most famous bay Sognefiord this country and also the long fjord FIO 2 on the world, has a depth of 1200m and 900m wide.
