This is the river near the bridge in in the heart of Cagayan De Oro City in my childhood

I hold fadeless memories deep within my heart;

Now that I am not young anymore, I realize that memories of my youth are getting clearer in my mind;

And not just in my mind but also in my heart and soul;

They seem to happen just yesterday or even are happening right before my eyes at the moment they come up;

Among the most nostalgic memories in my youth is the Cagayan de Oro River;

My Dad forbade me to swim in that dirty river;

He said it was dirty but I cannot see how and why he said so;

Such beautiful and wide river at the mouth of the great sea where children my age daily enjoy the free and fresh swim and the delicious feel of the cool water;

The very hot and uncomfortable Philippine summer could have been unbearable in my childhood if not for that wonderful Cagayan River;

I love the river and swim there every day;

Even when I was in school, when I think of the river then I just get out from my class and escape from all my classes;

Why should I torture myself being inside that hot classroom when I can spend all my time dipping in that wonderful river?

My Dad often punished me by belting my butt once he discovered my affairs with the river;

He was a missionary and the nature of his job necessitated his long absence from home;

I missed my Dad often times but I preferred him to be away from home so that I can spend my days with my beloved river;

Such nostalgic childhood memories with Cagayan De Oro River remind me of my happy childhood days;

Remind me too that there are many happy memories in life that we can ponder on when the present seems unbearable.

      Hi MsDora, am glad to see you again my heart I had long considered you as a reliable friend in hubpages. Thanks for dropping by and for your sensible comment. Remembering happy childhood memories has some definite therapeutic effect in me especially at times when the present situation is not moving fast towards the direction that I so desire...just remembering that there is a winner part in our existence somewhere, somehow is inspiration enough to relish what I have in the present.
