Information on Operation 10 - 48 (Officer Needs Assistance)

This is not my usual type of Hub. I am normally telling stories of idiots and morons. This time it's different. I am telling a story of good people. Since I have a small audience and a large chance of positive exposure on the internet, I thought I would put out a little information about a group of real police officers and their wives who possess the good will to help departments which aren't as well funded as they should be.

I know a few of my pen name "Ole Number One" followers are fellow law enforcement officers and would definitely be interested in at least knowing about these guys and their efforts.

The officers and their wives are as follows: Merandee and Joe Homan, and Kayse and Wes Brown. These four do it all when it comes to this organization.

10 - 48 is a police code, as far as I know, that is always the call for officer assistance or immediate back up to be en - route. Hence the term Operation 10-48 (Officer Needs Assistance). It is a non profit group based out of Jasper, Alabama. Jasper is located in Walker Co. about 20 miles Northwest of Birmingham.

On January 15, 2010 I had the good fortune to be the recipient of a ballistic vest (Bulletproof) from these guys. No strings attached, they simply donated it to me. I now, with great pride, wear it daily. It is a new Point Blank Level 2 vest, custom fit to my jolly specifications.
