Optimists Vs Pessimists. Which Personality Type Are You?

Updated on October 21, 2010

This world we live in is a very interesting place. On daily basis we come across people of different backgrounds, attitudes, beliefs, philosophies, cultures etc. If you observe closely you will find lot of opportunities to study people. You don't have to go to a prestigious university to do a research project on human behavior and attitudes. Your daily encounters with people bring you enough subjects for you to observe, interact and study.

When you are walking on the street or in a hall of a building, some times you can predict a persons mood and whether he or she is happy or not. I am sure you saw some people smiling at you while others frown. There is yet another group who just ignore you as if you are not there.

Even though we can categorize people in to whatever groups we like, but there seems to be primarily two types of people in this world. Optimists and Pessimists.

These people are happy about being alive. They look at positive side in a given situation. These people are always happy and upbeat and they have positive outlook in life. They realize the fact that they need to work hard to accomplish great things in life instead of expecting somebody to hand over to them. They are grateful for life, family, friends, relationships and present conditions of their life. They love life and enjoy every moment of it.

Feel like the world owes them a good living. They always think of negatives in every situation. Curse words are part of their daily language. There is no concept of success and working hard to achieve it. They believe that it is all a matter of luck and they are not lucky. They hate people who work hard and accomplish great things. They don't want to pay the price to accomplish anything significant and will be envious of the people who do.

The world we see outside is a reflection of what we are inside. If you are compassionate, understanding and helpful in nature, that is what you see in others and everybody treats you that way. On the other hand if you are frustrated, angry and arrogant, that's what you see in others and it will be returned to you.

There have been studies on optimism and has been proven that being optimistic has several advantages. As your subconscious mind manifests what you think about all the time and does not distinguish between positive and negative, you attract pleasant experiences in your life including enjoying good health if you are optimistic.
