Part 1-Ielts Speaking Topic: Accommodation

IELTS(International English Language Testing System) is the world's leading test of English for higher education, immigration and employment. Below are some sample questions and answers for this topic.

1. Can you describe the place where you live?

-I live in a house with a really big backyard and 5 bedrooms. It is very spacious and we get a lot of sunlight so it gets quite hot in the summer.

-It is located in the central/urban area of the city/ it is located on in the suburban part of the city.

-It’s a wonderful/peaceful neighborhood and all my neighbors are quite friendly

-I live at the university dormitory with 3 other roommates.

-Since we are guys, the room has the smell of sweat, also it’s quite a mess since we never clean

-Since we are girls, we room is always kept nice and tidy, we usually clean it at least once a week.

2. Please describe the room you live in. What kind of decorations does it have?

-My room is well decorated with a lot of family photos hanging on the wall.

-My room has pink wall paper with a lot of hello kitty dolls

-Its quite cozy room…

3. What would you say is the best thing about your home?

-My room is the favorite part of my room since I can chill out and relax. It is place where I can play computer games or read a book in peace and quiet.

-I would say it is the living room since it is usually where the whole family gathers…

-The balcony is probably the best place. It has a great view since we live on the 20th floor. Also it faces south so it’s a great place to sun bathe.

4. Would you say the place where you live is good for children?

-Absolutely, it’s close to both a primary school and high school so going to school for them would be quite convenient.

-It’s a safe neighborhood with many parks and leisure centers.

5. In the future what type of place would you like to live in?

-I would like to live in a huge house with plenty of space. I really enjoy barbecues so a large backyard would be necessary. Also, at least 3 bathrooms would also be nice since I don’t like sharing with other people

6. Do you know your neighbors？Do you spend much time socializing with your neighbors?

-I live in the city and it’s quite uncommon for people to their neighbors and I am one of those people.

-I never talk to my neighbors since I just like mind my own business.

7. Have you ever thought of moving to another place?

-Absolutely, although I’m quite happy with my living conditions, I would one day have to move out and live in a place of my own.

-I live with my parents because I’m still financially dependant. Once I get a job I would get out of there ASAP.
