Updated on June 14, 2013

Letters and Emails

IELTS(International English Language Testing System) is the world's leading test of English for higher education, immigration and employment. Below are some sample questions and answers for this topic.

Do you prefer to write letters by hand or to use a computer?

-I generally prefer to use computer to write letters. Its way more convenient for me cuz I type faster than I write.

-I’m able to make copies of the letter and send it to multiple people

-If it is for Christmas cards or love letters, I tend to write them by hand.

-They seem more personal and I can draw my own pictures.

-People tend to treasure letters but not emails.

What kinds of letter/email do you think are the hardest to write?

-Definitely love letters. I would always worry if the girl would appreciate my letter and understand what I am writing about.

-I absolutely loath writing letters of recommendation. I think it's a hassle and I am forced to write good things about people.

Do you prefer, to make a phone call or write an email?

-It depends

-If I need to contact someone ASAP then I will call them. Waiting for someone to return an email could take days.

-If I am not in a hurry then I will write an email since it is free and saves money. Also I don't like to talk with people directly.
