IELTS(International English Language Testing System) is the world's leading test of English for higher education, immigration and employment. Below are some sample questions and answers for this topic.
1. Does your name have any special meaning?
-My name is Tao Hua, which is a kind of flower. My Parents gave me this name hoping I would be as gorgeous as the flower.
2. Do you like your name?
-I’m quite fond of my name since it has a deep and significant meaning.
-It’s short and extremely easy to pronounce
-It’s unique/ one of a kind
-I was named after my great grandfather
3. When Chinese people name their children, are there any special customs that are followed?
-Chinese people believe that a name might determine a person’s future.
-People believe that a name is tied to a person
-Many people are superstitious
4. How are Chinese names and Western names different?
-Chinese names start with the family name, whereas in contrast, it's the opposite in Western names.
-A lot of Western names come from the Bible, whereas Chinese people might use meaningful words in a name.
5. Do people in China ever change their names?
-It happens, but only on rare occasions.
-A person might change names if there is a chance it is unlucky.
-When parents divorce and the mother doesn't want her child to have the father’s family name.
