A neighbour

IELTS(International English Language Testing System) is the world's leading test of English for higher education, immigration and employment. Below are some sample questions and answers for this topic.

Describe one of your Neighbours

You should say:

How long you have known this neighbour

What sort of person he/she is

How often you see him/her

And explain what kind of relationship you have with this neighbour

I’ve been living in the same apartment for 18 years so the neighbour I want to talk about happens to also be my best friend, Tony. We’re also childhood friends and he is one of the most intelligent people that I know. He is an extremely important person to me and we have known each other since high school. He was the smartest student in my grade and used to ace every exam. I used to always copy his homework. When we were young we used to cause a lot of mischief together.

Tony is about 1.75 meters tall which is around the average height for Australians. He has a clean haircut and is very handsome. He enjoys fishing a lot and usually goes fishing at least once a month.

I like him very much because of three main reasons. Firstly he is humorous and has the ability to cheer me up when I am upset. Secondly he is trustworthy and reliable. I can trust him with my secrets and be certain that he wouldn't tell anyone about them. Thirdly, apart from being intelligent he is also very athletic, we would compete in table tennis competitions and do other sports together in our free time. Because of these reasons he is my best friend. I haven’t seen him for over 3 months however we still keep in touch by video conferencing using the internet.
