I believe that everything in our life began as a thought. What we give out - we get back. When we create peace and harmony in our minds and think positive thoughts, we attract positive experiences and people. What we believe, both about ourselves and our lives becomes true for us. Did you know that nearly 90% of our thoughts are negative? We have the power to turn any negative thought into a positive one through the use of affirmations.
The definition of an affirmation as it pertains to psychology is: positive statement of achievement: a positive thought or statement affirming that a desired goal has been reached or is within reach.
Another definition is: something affirmed: a positive statement or declaration of the truth or existence of something.
Learning to use positive affirmations is a process, a technique to change negative self-talk into something more positive. It involves repeating positive phrases and can be quite powerful. If you add visualization to your positive self-talk, this speeds up the process.
The following affirmations are a list that I have collected throughout my life. A few, I have written myself and I encourage you to add your own as needed. A good time to come up with affirmations is while walking or at any time you are viewing nature.
When first beginning an affirmation exercise, you may not believe or accept what you are saying. No matter - simply continue with repeating the phrase throughout the entire day and if needed into the next day or even the week.

Every thought you think, every word you say, is an affirmation. All of our self-talk or inner dialogue is a stream of affirmations. By choosing to think and say positive affirmations as true, the subconscious is forced into one of two reactions - avoidance or reappraisal.
Continually repeating affirmations with conviction and passion will chip away at even the strongest resistance.
Because affirmations actually reprogram your thought patterns, they change the way you think and feel about things, and because you have replaced dysfunctional beliefs with your own new positive beliefs, positive change comes easily and naturally. This will start to reflect in your external life, you will start to experience seismic changes for the better in many aspects of your life.
An important part of believing is to feel "as if it has already happened." I have found that one of the best ways to evoke that feeling is to express gratitude after you recite an affirmation.

Take time out of a busy day to practice imagery in your mind. With children it's a way of life. We can be anything or go anywhere. All we have to do is imagine. Somehow, we tend to lose this practice when we become adults.
When we use our imagination we are turning possibilities into realities.
