New Orleans, way down in Louisiana,

will always be a part of our Americana,

with a music so fine and people so grand,

forever to play in its soulful band.

Rich heritage, its songs, in a Dixie land beat,

and to our ears, a fabulous treat,

marching in the streets, playing a tune,

a festival there, in the month of June.

Voices to remember, lingers in our minds,

beautiful people, tributes of all kinds,

a life full of happiness, so inviting, the times,

special memories, in all of its rhymes.

Black Magic, Voodoo, and mysteries in the night,

add intrigue to all of its scary delight,

on southern shores. with its Creole past,

in all the merriment, its endowments will last.

Marvelous celebration comes in the wintertime,

with big parades, and with sounds so sublime,

colorful costumes and dancing feet,

leave special memories, in this fond retreat.

Golden harmony, in trumpet's shrill tones,

Deep refrains from saxes and trombones,

bass drums thunk with a regular beat,

give all to hear, such marvels, so complete.

Down the Mississippi, in New Orleans,

will remain in our history, a part of our dreams,

a treasure so revered and for all to behold,

more valued in its culture, than the riches of gold.

The pirates of old, left a legacy there,

buried silver and jewels, left a mystery, so rare,

forever to remain, this gem of the ages,

and is so written in books, on all of the pages
