How To Rise Above It (Poem)

Updated on December 24, 2015

Author of (Love Is Our Law) poetry book, songwriter, firefighter, real estate broker, College Instructor. 3 songs released. Yet to marry.

Source

Not likely that hungry dogs

Will pass up eating meat,

But disciplined humans

Control foods they eat,

No need to deal with trash,

You’re made much better than that,

No need to be so rash,

Being calm is where it’s at,

The Battle's Already Won

It's not yours to fight,

Satan’s work is never done,

His wrong versus right,

So Rise above the stuff

With mind over matter,

Giving worry no power

To spread or even scatter,

Attractive and arousing,

Lustful to the eyes,

If love is not apparent,

Ignore it as you rise,

Focus beyond the matter,

Think righteously better,

Your dream is on the platter,

Releasing all the fetter,

So rise, rise above it,

Raise faith to its Creator,

Be free and always love it,

With the Son, the Mediator

Ignore The Flak

Most people do not ignore the flak. Many times, they should consider the source that the flak comes from and walk it off. That's the best way to rise above it (flak).

Very inspirational indeed. We have to rise above all setbacks by recognizing the positives. You did justice to this by your motivational lines. Great one!

I do not eat meat. That was something else! I thought that it really had meaning and stood on its own. I gave it thumbs up and pinned it.

      Blessings and smiles.

Lovely poem to glorify our Lord God and present much truth. I will have to ask God when I see him why He made men to be attracted by sight and women by touch, as it makes it so difficult to deny those natural things God gave us when He created us. However, you as pointed out, when we keep our eyes focused on Christ, we can do all things through Him who strengthens us! Plus, he tells us that He will always make a way for us to escape temptation.

Voted up and more and away

      Blessings always
