Small Things Become Big Things

Updated on January 20, 2010

How is your social life right now? do you feel your life give benefit to others? I think this hub is related with other hub about " How  To Reach The Happiness". There are many things we can do by doing a small things and brought the benefit for us and our environment. And this is the way to share our happiness to others. As many Hubbers said, helping people and give to others is the big happiness. Although the small things if we do it regularly, it become big things. Don't forget to be a big things have to start from the small things. Like the big company or the success business they have to start from the small business. There are many samples around us had inspired this hub. like:

The benefit of "little DNA"

In the human DNA molecule stores enough information to fill a million pages or about 1000 pages. Whereas the size of the information, among billion in a teaspoon and there are still enough room for all the information in a book ever written

Loving Plants

Plants have the ability to absorb air pollution and help to produce oxygen. At least we have a small potted plant that we can put in our house. Even if you're working in the room with air conditioning, pollution still occurs. Small plants in the corner of the table can absorb the bad pollution which spread around work place, like in the office.

removing dangerous objects on the road.

The road is a place for traffic of people. If we find there are things that harm us and others like stones, thorns, nails or broken glass, remove it immediately. So, the security and comfort user road wouldn't disturbed. Removing small dangerous things in the road give a lot of benefit, it make the road user enjoy while driving, feel comfortable and we all also happy could help others.

Pavement also the place we can found the dangerous things like broken glass, stone, the banana skin we can remove it immediately. So other people will enjoy walking on this pavement. This takes a little awareness and eagerness to do this and it wasn't easy for us. But I believe we can do that.

Separation of organic waste and non-organic

This behavior seems trivial, but it wasn't easy to do. Do we usually sorting all this garbage?  Although we had prepared the special place to  sort  all the garbage, but it still difficult to do. I think there are many benefit by doing this habit. We talk about discipline. This is good habit, we can teach this to our children. We became friendly to the environment and more loving environment.

Give warning to smoker in public places

This becomes a habit that requires little courage. But should always try especially in a public place. Although there is "no smoking" signs in the public place. like in airport, bus station, railway station. We know the harmful effect for the people surrounding that place, especially if there are children in that place.

We can warning by the polite language without angry and upset. Don't forget to say thank you if we have reprimanded him and he will oblige it.

When my legs were more useful I use to do many things that would be helpful like remove turtles off of a highway, help move a stranded vehicle off the highway, help cops direct traffic in auto accidents, bring injured animals to animal care places. There are so many things folks can do to help one another. Great hub. God Bless You.

Great hub and by the way I do smoke (in the evenings only) but would never dream of doing it in a place where there were non-smokers, so some of us are considerate - also even though I smoke, I hate people smoking when I'm eating or in hotel bedrooms and many other places.

Thanks Darlene, hypnodude , Micky, Don White and akirchner for give your time to visit this hub. I am very proud read all the comment. I know that smoking problem have a big portion in here. But I think "free smoking area" is the best concept to overcome this problem. So, it doesn't interfere each other.I hope the best for us.

Great hub and so true - it's the little things that anyone can do that matter; and as to the punching in the face, I guess that's what it means to take one for the team!

On the smoking issue, all you have to do is politely say thee is no smoking in this state closer than 30 feet to a public building, and (which is true in my case) my wife is deathly allergic to all forms of smoke and pollution. Could you kindly take it down the street away from this public entrance where a hundred people pass by every hour?

That's my way of being nice, but firm as well. I agree, we all should be alert to rocks people can trip on, stuff in the road that could damage a car or truck, dangers to children and old people. Now that I'm an older person and so is my wife, who has poor eyesight, I try to be her eyes and ears and keep her safe. Thanks, Prasetio, for that nice blog.

Great advice. Always point out the evils of smoking except to women and large men (or small men who could be carrying small weapons, or could know martial arts).

Thanks for all who interesting to this hub.

For Pete and Veronica. Thanks for your thought about it. Like I said before it need little courage. I know it difficult to do. This is about my experience how to warn people not smoke is public places. Like in the bus or other public transportation. I ask to them very very polite. I don't want hurt their feeling. Sometimes they accept it and sometimes they didn't. But I always said thank you to them. At least I tried to warn that there are many passive smoker around us. And don't want to make a problem with them, so they not to punch my face. But I don't know the situation in US. Maybe I'll think twice to warn the "big Guy" with a lot of tatto, and using Harley Davidson. Like in the movie....But thanks for your attention.

Veronica, you have wonderful tips to avoid the smoker person. We can do that thing.

janiek13, I think you are great person who appreciate others who didn't smoke. I think the world would be nice if all people like you. It need sacrifice to do like that. Two thumbs up for you.

Pamela, thanks for share your experience about this topic. I know it hard to do. And I hope all the smoker people will appreciate and know the situation and place when they have to smoke and when they don't smoke.

Prasetio, You made some good points. I am very allergic to smoke and I have asthma, so when any smoker comes to visit we have an area outside and one in the garage where they are welcome to smoke. In FL there is no smoking in restaurants, so that isn't a problem for me. I find most people are considerate but I sure don't tell them what to do.

If I am smoking and someone reminds me that it is a no smoking zone, I punch them right in the nose... not really, I usually apologize and put it out. Kindness should beget kindness, though that is not always the case. That is why I love hubpages, most of you are so kind. Great hub, Prasetio!

I agree with Pete Maida on the smoking issue - a lot people get really touchy about that. I usually just remove myself and my children from the area if someone is smoking instead. Since no one smokes in my home, if we have visitors that do smoke, then they have to do it outside. Other than that, I agree with how we can do little things to help ourselves and the environment. If everyone does just a little, it will all add up.

Warning people about smoking can get you a punch in the face. There are some militant smokers out there that don't like being told what to do.
