Teaching Quick Witted
As we all know today kids are 'ikids'.They start learning about devices in mothers womb.They have brush with technology as they take birth. Excited parents click the picture of new born and upload on social networking sites.Then they wait for 'likes', 'tweets' and 'comments'.So the child listen to tech-chats in "Palna" itself.Visual appeals the young ones and they wish to hold the devices.Parents feel proud that their baby is "Techno savvy".They enter to the world of "Skype"and "viber".Child understands that this new world involves around instant gratification.Child experiences the parents joy on his quick response and understand the importance of Quick wit.
When he takes a leap from mothers' lap to teachers' lap,he is awed with new beginning.To make more friends he is unstoppable.He chats faster and faster to get better response.May be at a speed of 60 w.p.s .If teacher intervenes,he is upset and not able to digest why teacher is not liking his quick wit.He tries all techniques and strategies to woo teacher. He is not able to handle annoyance of teacher.Expression on his face says all.Now ball is in the pocket of teacher.Teacher need to bridge this gap.
We all know they are clean slate,sapling or soft dough which can be moulded with love,care and experience.We need to do our homework properly.Understand the gap between digital natives and digital immigrants.She need to do is background check in terms of family structure,devices he is using,sleep time,eating habits,how he respond to parents,his passion and so on.Equipped teacher will be able to replicate and create environment for the growth of sapling.
