The Connection Between the Universe and Everything
Everything is connected to the universe, so everything we do, everything we are passionate about, our thoughts, our actions. All connected to something much greater than the human mind could begin to comprehend (much like the universe itself). If you're fortunate enough to be intuitive to this, then you likely possess a high level of passion for many things in your life. The simple pleasures mean more to you because they are built on the foundation of a deeper meaning. Everyone acquires an individual sense of purpose and meaning in this life and sometimes it's enough to influence the lives of other people. Some people are very in tune with their energies and the energies emitted by others around them. These are defined as chakra, each of the centers of spiritual power in the human body, usually considered to be seven in number. These energies correspond with massive nerve centers in the body as well as psychological, emotional, and spiritual states of being. The mind, body and soul are thought to be intimately connected, so recognizing an imbalance in one area could help bring the others back into balance. Keeping them open and devoid of negative energy is sometimes harder than implied, so it could be revolutionary in your life to learn how to avoid negative energy blocks. (This is something I am currently learning myself.) There are a dozen web sites that could provide more complex definition. But these seven energies can be broken down to a more rudimentary state;
- Root Chakra- Our foundation and feeling of being grounded. Located at the base of the spine.
- Sacral Chakra- Our connection and ability to accept others and new experiences. Located in the lower abdomen, 2 inches below the navel and 2 inches in.
- Solar Plexus Chakra- ability to be confident and in control. Located in the upper abdomen.
- Heart Chakra- ability to love. Center of chest just above the heart.
- Throat Chakra- ability to communicate. Location self explanatory.
- Third-Eye Chakra- ability to focus and see the bigger picture. Located between the eyes.
- Crown Chakra- The highest chakra and represents our ability to connect spiritually and experience bliss. (I can personally say upon recent experience, being in tune with all of your chakras must be wonderful. But being in tune with the crown chakra is phenomenal.)
Chakras and Muay Thai
I can always use martial arts as a great illustration to learning self discipline and self respect. I imagine that most people who participate in the beautiful sport of competitive/respective combat, are very much in tune with these energies (whether or not they recognize the possibility of these energies or not). To truly be passionate for any form of martial arts you have to acquire a steep respect for all aspects practiced, so you gain insight on what it means to have self respect on a universal level. For instance in Muay Thai, the pre-fight technique has often been ridiculed by the lesser crowds who do no appreciate the importance of the routine. The fighter exhibits obedience by bowing to the teacher. The fighter would then proceed into the "Rum Muay". A traditional form of boxing interpreted through dance, in turn, it also serves as preconditioning warm ups. Traditional Thai orchestra is usually played.
The Art of Eight Limbs
Muay Thai, (formally known as Siam) and/or "The art of eight limbs," because of it's use of punches, kicks, elbow and knee strikes, essentially utilizing eight points of contact, arose in Thailand and has further developed over the centuries. The characteristics of the sport give it t's artistic value to the people who actively participate within it. And just as any form of martial arts, it has a set of disciplined rules, to build onto your body, mind and soul. Conditioning and carry over training for the sport take more than just dedication to the sport, it takes a passion for life as a whole and self satisfaction. These characteristics are often accompanied by other favorable family values and a protective nature.
The aggressiveness of attack through Muay Thai is considerably high, because of the fact that there are less restrictions to legal impacts. As mentioned above, knee and elbow techniques are permitted. The fighting styles are comparable to full-contact karate, with the exception that in full-contact karate, kicks below the belt are not permitted. Fighters who possess more adequate speed and agility capability exhibit superior performance in striking technique, an aspect well observed of light weight contenders in professional match ups. Past combat techniques pursued a "fight to the end", while modern competitions today implement five 3 minute rounds with 2 minutes of break in between. In the event that there are three knockdowns in a single round, it can be fight ending.
Author's Comments:
As an aspiring astrophysicist just completing my first year of school, becoming more in tune with the spirituality and the universe has provided me with more of an inner peace in this world that can be chaotic. People often create this hypothetical line between spirituality and science, for some reason it's simply impossible to embrace both. As a scientist, you have to be open to theory, because that is essentially all that science is; theory. Until repetitive results conclude that theory a truth. And that is how I embrace my spiritual connection to the universe. I know that there are some within the scientific community that might depose my prospective career as a physicist because of my beliefs, but from my own prospective it has not been disproved and it does not have negative impact on any future research I will contribute. You are free to express your opposing opinions as I know that not everyone will adopt the same concepts as I do.
