The Kiss of Fall Envelops Boomer Lake

Experience It For Yourself!

There have been a couple of crisp early mornings that have greeted me on the lake. The fresh, cold smell of fall keeps me longing for Hallowe’en and hayrides. No matter where one happens to be located when the weather calendar turns to autumn, it is a delightful time of year. The leaves change color and the migrant summer birds begin leaving. Those from the north pass through, and some manage to stay a couple of weeks to rest and regenerate themselves, before they make flights, some of them going thousands of miles to get to their destinations.

The Power of Suggestion

This is a time that we might all want to prepare for winter and reflect upon the year. There are still potatoes to harvest, hard apples to pick, and pumpkins to gather for those wonderful pies. Many kitchens will smell like those familiar and wonderful spices that are used in those seasonal apple ciders, especially for those of you that are fortunate enough to own cider presses. I can smell the applesauce already...

The Eyes Have It

Today, I wandered about much of Boomer Lake, a good 2 ½ miles to see those familiar sights of the season. Naturally, I had my camera in hand, and wanted to share this beautiful time of year with all of you. You can see what my own eyes saw, and perhaps for those of you that are getting to know me, you can almost feel and experience the awesome sense of wonder that I get when I am outside.

Fall Begets Winter, and Then Spring Again...

Some of these beautiful plants and flowers have made it through their seasons. In my eyes, they still hold their own beauty in no matter what stage of life that they are in. Even if they have passed, there are still memories of them to hold onto, and we can look forward to the breath of life pulsing forth in the spring to host new flora.

Source

A Time of Temporary R & R

These older plants still hold nooks and crannies for small animals to hide in, as well as sleep for the night where they get a new lease on life for the following day. Fall is a time of temporary rest. It is still a wonderful time to behold, especially here on Boomer Lake where life continues during all seasons of the year.

Look Forward to the Colder Months

I will still be out and about searching for birds during the winter. If we are lucky enough to have a snowfall, I will try to get photos of birds, animals, and scenery. Winter will host gorgeous ice formations that will be spectacular in sunlight, so there is much to look forward to discovering.

Present and Future

Life has been a great discovery on Boomer Lake throughout the year, and it will continue through 2013. The beauty of it is that for all of you that read these articles, you will be right there beside me when those discoveries are published. I want you to get the same sense of the present that I do when I snap the photos, and remember that I do it for all of us. Thanks for letting me share these great memories with you, as well as the enjoyment that it brings.

Source

Enjoy this time of year, for it will be another full year for it to happen again. Make lasting and beautiful memories, share with friends and family, and spread love and happiness wherever you venture.

justom, you may be interested to know that this piece was done over a year ago. Perhaps you need to look a bit further for someone that has less than a year's experience with a DSLR which I began actively using during March of this year. Prior to that was a simple digital just about a point-and shoot, a Nikon L120. Let me apologize as well, but you could be missing the forest for the trees.

Let me apologize in advance but based on this hub I'm not sure how "best photography" applies. Taking pictures is something that anyone can do but the word "photographer" has nothing to do with the size of your lens. I've worked with 35mm-2 1/4-4x5 and 8x10 film cameras and have a degree in commercial photography and find that digital (which I do also) photography makes everyone lazy and makes the quality of photography, in general, not so good. Maybe I've missed your best stuff but there are standards for a good photo and for me they've not changed/ Peace!! Tom

Hi Deb. Fall is far and away my favorite season. We are in full foliage here in the New England and the leaves are starting to fall. Thank you for bringing Boomer Lake into our homes, very enjoyable.

You know, even though the plants look drab and colorless, I know they still hold lots of food for winter birds that will be glad to have their seeds on which to feast. Autumn is my very favorite time of the year--the color, the smell, I love everything about it. You have captured that essence and I'm glad you shared it with us. Voted Up, Beautiful and Awesome

It sure is, Nettlemere, and I am closely watch all the changes. The city is out making sidewalk repairs at the lake, so it is never to late for maintenance.

Beautiful pictures, and promises for more as you walk around Boomer Lake. You told me what wild asters are on that picture...but did not see that butterfly you snapped. Your chilly weather photos portray such photography to come with winter! Thanks for a quite enjoyable nature walk, will be waiting for more.

Wonderful photo's. I've just done a major trimming back in my garden because last year I had carpel tunnel syndrome in my left hand. My stray cat wonders where all his covers have gone to; especially when we had a tremendous storm for two days.

Voted up awesome and beautiful, Joyce.
