Florence Colgate: The Most Beautiful Woman in the United Kingdom, Scientifically Proven!

Updated on February 12, 2013

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder but apparently "they" do not include the scientific community or Lorraine Cosmetics. In a recent contest sponsored by the makeup company to find the most perfect natural beauty in the United Kingdom, photographs of approximately 8000 women were examined by scientists.

The team of analysts measured the contestants' faces in terms of symmetry and "optimum distance" between eyes, mouth, chin and forehead. Apparently the nose has little to do with beauty. But it is easy to make fun of a bunch of geeks running numbers through a computer to find the perfect beauty. It is not so easy to deny the beauty of the chosen one.

That chosen one is 18 year old Florence Colgate. Florence is a student who works part-time in a fish and chips shop. It is a safe bet many of the shop's regular customers already recognize Florence is a rare beauty. But is she truly the most beautiful woman in Britain? Florence is the first to express disbelief.

"I had to send in a picture wearing no make-up," she said upon reaching the final round, "and from that I got called to say I got through into the top five out of 8000 people. It's just unbelievable. Honestly, I did not expect to get this far at all."

To win the contest, Florence had to submit a photo wearing no makeup. Contestants were disqualified if they had undergone any plastic surgery. Though it probably comes as no surprise to many that the winner was a blue-eyed blonde, hair and eye color were not factors in determining the winner. With brown eyes and dark hair, Florence would still have the face that comes closest to perfection.

Florence plans to attend college where she will study business management, but right now her focus is her final year at Dover Grammar School in Deal, Kent, where she is currently enrolled. Of course, with attention she is receiving for her gorgeous good looks, she may have to decide if a modeling career is in the cards.

I think Florence is...

See results

If you did not vote for Florence being the United Kingdom's most beautiful lass, I think we owe it to science to give you a couple more photos to see if we cannot sway your opinion.

If you did vote for her as the most beautiful in woman in the UK, you can consider these a bonus for having such excellent taste and give yourself a pat on the back for recognizing true beauty. After all, it is scientifically proven!

Interesting hub. Whilst the chosen girl is pretty I believe that beauty is definitely in the eyes of the beholder and no scientific formula can determine the most beautiful woman.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This young lady is certainly very beautiful and Great Britain should be proud of her.
