Society without Communication

Updated on November 30, 2016

Is communication the most important creation to mankind?

Let me start with the definition of communication: "the imparting or exchanging of information." What are the types of communication?

  • Verbal (speech, singing, shouting)
  • Non-verbal (body movement, gestures, eye contact, facial expressions etc)

Why is communication so important?

Firstly the development of language and speech is an exceptional creation, it is used everyday by each and every human being on this planet, nothing else even touches the scale of this kind of value and importance.

Would we be where we are today?

Imagine having millions of generations all over the world which would have to learn absolutely everything from scratch, this is what would happen without any communication.

Furthermore how would we transfer all of our knowledge to the next person, better yet, how would we improve our capacity of knowledge as a whole. We simply wouldn't be able to if we can't share any of our experiences.

Would we continue to advance at all?

Following on how would we be able to create a flourishing adaptive society if everything we want to create cannot be expressed through our thoughts and desires? We could still accomplish great individual feats, but it yields no value if we cannot share it to the next person.

Does our communication allow us to be selective?

The basic building block of all human interaction is communication. But how does this let us be selective? Relationships - ignore the evolutionary standing of natural selection, we can harness and manipulate the intense power of love and be with who we want to be with. Could we do this without communicating though?

The Link Between Culture and Communication

Without the influence of culture this world would be populated with seven billion people who act, speak and live the same.

You cannot create culture without interaction - we'd all look like a blank canvas, we'd not know how to express what we feel, and most of all we wouldn't have any understanding of language and speech.

Individuality & Personality

Our friends and family have a tremendous effect on our personalities, we develop similar attitudes and thoughts which we incorporate into our own lives; this leads on to people often saying "you're just like your brother you are", and other similar examples.

Furthermore, as mentioned in the topic of culture and communication will we really all be a 'blank canvas' without communication? It seems plausible to think we will! We would act just like all the other species out there that you have seen, they all look and act the same because they have no sophisticated means of communication.

What would we be missing out on?

How do you reckon you would live without a couple of these examples:

  • Conversation
  • Religion
  • Art
  • News
  • Music
  • Culture

So, are you familiar with your instincts? Every single piece of information you know has been communicated to you via sharing. Additionally, this article reveals that communication is subconsciously sometimes one of the most overlooked yet immediately important concepts in our lives. What has been passed down over generations and what we will all pass on in the future is of immeasurable value.

But through mankinds effective communication we have determined the growth of this world as we see it.

Next time you wash your hair, Shampoo everything above your amitrps. That includes your whole Head, Face Neck, Shoulders and as much of your back as possible..Buy some Selsun Shampoo' for Dandruff. . This is EXCELLENT for all types of skin ailments.and will clear your Acne in about a week. Many of the other treatments are rather mild for serious Acne, so keep them for future use after your face is better. Selsun shampoo, cleans DEEP into the skin pores and is a powerful anti-bacterial, anti-fungal cleanser. Take care to rinse your face thoroughly after shampooing to remove all traces of Selsun'(Take a long shower ) because It has a slight drying effect, so alternate with a good quality Lanolin based soap to restore the natural body oils removed by the shampoo

      Hey again f_hruz!

I wonder how humans would have developed over the past 60 million years with the presence of dinosaurs, I doubt we'd be where we are today...

But yes I agree it's shameful how the media feeds our societies with total BS day after day with the most ridiculous subjects they can possibly find, it really is just mindless nonsense - I wonder if they will ever change...

Additionally in my own opinion about religion I just believe that it is an abstract concept of imagination manipulated on belief and truth (even though it does yield great value) - but that's something for another time!!!

Corr, don't I have to many questions to ask haha..

      Anyway, thanks for posting!

Thanks Scott - I think there are a lot of environmental parameters which provide for some forms of life to evolve in some areas like marsupials in Australia.

A very special one is the Tasmanian Devil ... :)

Earlier life forms, like the dinosaurs, may have become extinct because of some geo-dynamic adjustment of the earth, reducing the maximum size of skeletal structures life on earth could sustain ...

I'm just critical of pop culture and the mass media feeding us so much BS and useless information instead of having more critical, socially constructive ideas evolve which would question the existing establishment more openly, make our system more dynamic so it would change things to the better a bit faster ... :)

I just can't stand irrational or religious arguments based of 1/2 cooked ideas ... ahahaha

Hey f_hruz. Great comment! Evolution is certainly an excellent topic to talk about - we evolve because as our environment changes we need to as well - do you reckon the most adaptable species will progress more than the less adaptable... Is this why some species are now extinct?

      Thanks for the comment!

It's interesting to look at how much information various life forms had to accumulate to evolve to their current state of being.

Why do you think is human society so overwhelmed by all the silly toys and gadgetry we have developed as a species when we could have learned to direct our evolution to become an integral part of nature - non-polluting, non-destructing and easy on the global environment like the dolphines?

They were land animals before going back into the oceans!
