Updated on August 30, 2011

Advanced Selection Tool in Photoshop: Review

The Pen Tool is a very useful tool once you get the hang of it. Unlike the other selection tools in Adobe Photoshop, it is a very "forgiving" tool in that it does not take up too much memory and can be stored as a path. This path can be used to your specifications. Teaching yourself along with these tutorials will prove very worthwhile for your education or career.

Tutorial with Bert Monroy- A Photoshop users review.

Bert Monroy is a well-respected digital Artist who has been around for a long time. Not only is Bert a brilliant Artist, but a very good tutor too. His Tutorials are clear, concise and very easy to follow. Below are links to other tutorials you can get extra information from, but this is the author's pick and recommendation. You can access it here.

You may choose your own source file and follow along. It is a good idea to watch the video through first and then work along with it in Adobe photoshop.
Pros
Bert manages to give live demonstrations of how the Pen Tool works. He explains each step clearly and at a pace that is very easy to follow.
The Video Tutorials are free to download or share.
The Tutorials are absolutely free, thanks to their key sponsors Godaddy and  Netflix.
You can have a channel to specifically download these Tutorials as they come in.
None come to mind with this tutorial as you can download it and watch it at your convenience. The only problem individuals might have is directly related to their Internet connection- if you have a slow connection then the download speed can be a pain.
What you will learn
Through this tutorial you will learn how to use the Pen Tool effectively. This has many advantages that will prove useful for use in Adobe Photoshop. Selection will be more precise and easier to do once you get used to the pen tool. Creation of Paths and which can be filled to create vector shapes is another benefit. Stroking edges (for example to create the "comic book outline effect.) Is also very effective when applied to your original work.

Review comment: Not primarily geared for the beginner but useful if you have a basic idea of what the tool is. Good demonstration on the features of the tool.
