help save our planet

Help keep our planet clean.

I think it is our duty to help keep our planet clean.

I also know that we can make a huge impact on our environment by choosing to make some simple changes in our daily routine.

You don't have to be a vegan to make a difference.

Use less water - Simply turning the water off when you brush your teeth will help you use less water and believe it or not in some places in the world there are extreme shortages of good clean water so I think you can help change the world just by simply using less water.

Use less gas - I think it may shock you to know but the world is running out of oil and by simply using less gas you can help change the world, try walking or riding a bike or even car-pooling.

Recycle - Save aluminum cans, and recycle paper and plastics. Check with your local sanitation departments and many offer free recycling classes.

Don't use plastic bags - Plastic bags are one of the worst things that hurt our environment. They stop up draining ditches and take years to decompose, don't use them. Bring your own bag. Many stores have bags they will give you to reuse each time you go shopping, take advantage of the free bags and make it a habit to bring your own bag shopping.

Reuse plastic containers - It is OK to reuse a plastic water bottle. Simply wash it out and you can use the same on all summer long, the same goes for a gallon plastic milk jug.

Learn to grow a garden - You can help feed yourself and have a lot of fun if you take the time to learn the skill of gardening. Click here to read a hub I wrote about vegetable gardening.

Shop for clothing at thrift stores - Not only will you save money but you will also help the environment. Making clothes or anything else burns fossil fuels by using electricity.

Be Frugal - We all have much more than we actually need to survive. Try to think of ways you can help by being frugal and not buying or using things you don't really need.

Adopt a mile - of highway and keep it clean - Not only will you make money off the aluminum cans you pick up but you will get exercise and build a feeling of accomplishment when you do this.

Do something nice for someone at least once a day - I think that people don't care for their fellow man as much as they used to. Prove me wrong by doing something nice everyday for someone. It could be just words of encouragement to helping a friend in need. It feels good when you do something nice for someone.

I totally agree with your idea's of saving the world one person at a time. I don't think your hubs are boring though (Iwould not read them) All it takes is one more person to plant this seed into someone else's head and the domino effect happens... just hope we act upon what we think! Thanks

A little bit here and a little there, and a little consideration from everywhere is all that it take.

Simple and plain, I think it's the way to go.

Someone once told me "Be great by staying small." Always have an open mind and never be afraid to ask question.

Simple yet nicely expressed! And yes, there's nothing better than kind words and just helping someone. You say in your profile that you're 'talentless' : I'm sorry, but I disagree; I think you come across as a very warm and sensitive person, and trust me it's all that's needed to move people with one's words. Take care.. :)

Good points. I traded in my big truck and got a smaller, mid-sized model. It made a difference. Also, although it wasn't by choice, I had to replace my heat pump unit, refrigerator, microwave and kitchen range. I got the new energy efficient models. I was surprised by what a difference they made.

I'm with you. If everybody took into account the 3 points you've just mentioned, this world would be much better than it is, but i know that this is never going to happen because people only care about theselves and don´t pay attention to the problems of other people.
