Why not diamonds, titanium or silver?

Time is gold.

It reverberates in my ears whenever I am doing a project or finishing a work that should meet a deadline or ahead of the specific time. I'm sure you also experienced cramming on the projects you have to submit before the deadline.

Why not diamond, titanium or silver?

Aside from gold, these metals (titanium, silver) and a gemstone (diamond) are also precious since the time of our forefathers. But why is that only the metallic element gold was chosen to indicate the importance of time?

A child finds a shiny rock in a creek, thousands of years ago, and the human race is introduced to gold for the first time.

Gold was first discovered as shining, yellow nuggets. "Gold is where you find it," so the saying goes, and gold was first discovered in its natural state, in streams all over the world. No doubt it was the first metal known to early hominids.


This famous quotation about time is always the standard of every establishment whether private or public in order to meet deadlines, accomplish new projects or even discover or finish a new invention or innovation in technology and science or in any other fields of interests.

The Barometer of Time

People around the world observe punctuality. Time consciousness is one of the rules and regulations being implemented in many workforce, landbased or seabased.

From the owner of the establishment down to the guard who is roving for security, even there are cameras installed around the building, time promptness is always implemented.

The delivery of a specific product or service must be on time. For example in the hospital, heart transplant procedure is always on time and the delivery of the donor's heart must be ahead of the operation.

Even at the stock market, time is always the barometer if its shares whether it will rise or go down.

Our three-times a day meals (breakfast, lunch and supper) have always time brackets.

Time is always the subject of many popular songs like Moment in Time (Whitney Houston), Time after Time (Cyndi Lauper), Remember the Time (Michael Jackson) among others.


Westerners are always time-conscious. Being early to work, many valuable things are accomplished. We can see that they're economies are better than most of the countries in eastern part of the world, particularly in Asia or the so-called Thirld World.

Little by little most people nowadays are observing proper time schedule. Those employees who included tardiness in their work habits are most likely to be fired or layoff for the obvious reason of being the liabilities of the firm.


Well, most girls are always late on their dates. Men can tolerate it because they know that their women beautify themselves thoroughly to please their partners.

The rule of the time being compared to gold is not observed when it comes to love. Love defies time. When you're with your partner, you are always lost in time.

      Gold is synonymous with time. Even if you make or design jewelries or innovations using gold, it will stand the test of time.

      This is a proverbial saying. Our teachers often tell us to value time.
