Ultimate Faith

Updated on July 21, 2015

My people where is your faith?

Our world and society is filled with so much hate, murder, crime and negativity that it is almost impossible to avoid. We see this outlandish behavior everywhere! On television, on social media, even right in front of our faces, yet we laugh and mock as if life is just a game. We tear each other down with our words, we use our hands to abuse the very people we should consider our brothers and sisters. What has the world come to? You can tell, as the years roll by, the world continues to get worse. We hear about the many stories on the news pertaining to murder, crime and riots. The African American community suffers the most because we fight against one another the most. We have to understand that what is happening is beyond our control. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Ephesians 6:12) This is not a fleshly battle that we are up against, we are currently fighting a spiritual battle in these last and evil days. The only way you will be protected against these evil spirits is if you have on your full armor. Yes, because this is a battle between good and evil, we have to be prepared (equipped) to fight. It is written, “Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breast plate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all taking your shield of faith, wherein ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation; and the sword of the spirit which is the word of God.” (Ephesians 6:14-17) Take notice that above all things we should be firm in faith. It is faith that enables us to reach heights we never thought possible while being firm in our beliefs.

Religion and righteousness are two totally different aspects. Most people in America denounce religion because it boxes them into a certain creed. We hardly want to give up our fleshly desires, therefore, we make excuses as to why we feel entitled to do as we please. The most dangerous thing man can say that he is from his own self. Taking credit from the true creator of all things is blasphemous and will cause HIS wrath amongst those who do. It doesn’t take religion to be righteous, all it takes is an ounce of faith. Beware of various doctrines that are purposely placed on social media to confuse the minds of our people. You can’t believe everything you read, see, or hear on the internet, most of the information is inaccurate or downright false. Faith is defined as complete trust in someone or something. Also defined as, strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof. It is not required of you to be perfect and without flaw, it is only required of you to have faith and believe that The Almighty is the ruler of all things; even the functions and operation of this world. Believing in yourself whole heartedly and choosing to be righteous rather than being a heathen is one of the hardest things for black America to do. We always look at what we have to give up, or what we will lose to walk in righteousness…very few consider how much we gain by doing so.

This is America, the land of the free and the home of the brave. But yet, African Americans weren’t technically free until the year of 1863 under the presidency of Abraham Lincoln who was later assassinated for his beliefs. Even then, African Americans, still had to deal with the racism and prejudices of White America. According to an article The Civil War claimed more lives than any war in America estimating about 620,000 men who died to the line of duty. They fought long and hard for equality of all men, yet today year 2015, we still struggle to gain the respect we deserve as blacks in America. Is it safe to say those 620,000 men died in vain? Yes, we are free from slavery but the music we listen to enslaves us to the beliefs of the artists or Production Company. No we do not report to masters, but a lot of jobs that employ blacks are warehouses and assembly lines. There is no need for “the man” to whip us for our wrong doings, World Star promotes brutality between races, particularly black on black crime. Somewhere along the line we have lost sight of what this life is truly about. Our ancestors were people of faith, our great grandparents were people of faith, even our own mothers were people of faith, but our generation refuses to remove the blinders from their eyes and unite as people of faith. This is NOT about religion, this is about faith…what do you believe?

  1. Ever heard the phrase, “stand for something or fall for anything?” It is true! If you don’t have that initial foundation of belief, you are bound to fall for any doctrine that comes your way. As my mother used to say, “I’d rather live my entire life believing in God, than to not believe and be damned for all eternity.” It all starts with faith! Don’t get caught up in thinking you need to be perfect to have faith, actually it’s just the opposite. Imperfect people created by a perfect God…I hear this quote all the time from an associate of mine. He recognizes his imperfection but also recognizes that it was God who created him. I love that type of thinking! To know you aren’t a perfect person, but to still acknowledge the Creator for having made you. Have faith in yourself, life is for the strong and overwhelming for the weak. We claim with our mouths to be strong women and men, so then, I ask, where is your faith?

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrew 11:1) We all have aspirations and goals we wish to accomplish in life. Realistically we know, that we might not meet every goal that we set out to accomplish, but yet we strive towards success anyway. When we believe with our heart & minds that anything is possible we are executing faith. Please understand faith is an action word, it requires a bit of work. “Faith without works is dead.” If you want a brand new car, and you have faith you will get a new car, then it’s time to put in work towards a new car. Similar to bread & butter, you can’t have one without the other. Take me for instance; I have the desire to be a successful author. I can’t simply desire to be successful, I have to take all the necessary steps to actually be successful. Having faith in myself is only half the work, there are going to be frustrations long nights, and some closed doors. However, that doesn’t mean I should stop, it just makes my success story that much greater. I will be able to share these stories with my children, their children, and generations to come, all because I have faith that I will be successful in my endeavors.

We are all capable of greatness, its media and social networks that clout our minds from believing what is right and what is true. Please let me reiterate, you DO NOT have to be religious to have faith. It is always good to believe there is a higher power but I do not wish to portray the message that you have to be holier than thou to embody faith. The time is now! We don’t have many other options here in America. It either you believe in yourself and the power you have within, or you conform to the ways of the world and be moved with the constant changes of society. The choice is yours, by the way, the ultimate faith is absolutely free for the taking.
