Exam Validity & Exam Cost

This exam is valid for 5 years. You can take the exam 5 times in a year and the cost of the exam is $250.

GMAT- History

GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council) began in the year 1953 as an organization and it was associated with 9 business schools with the aim to provide standardized test to help the b-schools select the qualified and eligible students. Now more than 2000 + schools accept GMAT all over the world.

Exam Pattern

GMAT Consists of below Sections

Section 1: Analytical writing assessment (AWA-30 Minutes)

Section 2: Integrated reasoning consists of 12 questions (30 Minutes)

Optional break for 8 minutes

Section 3: Quantitative consists of 37 Questions (75 Minutes)

Optional break for 8 minutes

Section 4: Verbal consists of 41 Questions (75 Minutes)

Exam Ends

After end of exam you will be given 2 minutes to decide to cancel or accept your scores. if you cancel the exam then the scores are not sent to the B-Schools. If you accept then the scores are sent to the 5 selected B-Schools. If you don't take any action then by default your test is cancelled.

However once cancelled , you can reinstate your score by contacting GMAC but additional fees will be levied.

Registration and Exam

Exam can be taken at the Authorized Prometric centers across the world. https://www.prometric.com/

As the seats are limited and based on slots , its advised to book the exam in advance.

For taking up the exam create an account in this website http://www.mba.com/ . After registration you can schedule a date & time for the exam

Once the exam is scheduled start preparing for it. On the exam date take a Valid Passport or Identity proof to the exam center. After Authentication in the Prometric Exam Center, you have to deposit all your belongings in a locker and you will not be allowed to take any thing inside.

You have to sit in the allocated seat and you will be guided as per the requirement.

On the Exam Day

  • Reach the Exam Center 30 minutes before the scheduled time
  • Start the Exam
  • Read the instructions clearly
  • Select 5 colleges in which you wish to apply
  • Keep a watch to keep track of time
  • Start the Exam
  • End the Exam
  • Submit the locker Key
  • Take your belonging

Understand your Score

Your GMAT Total SCORE : Verbal and Quantitative

GMAT score ranges on a scale of 200 to 800.

The Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) score ranges from 0 to 6 .

Integrated Reasoning Score:Integrated Reasoning (IR) scores are ranging from 1 to 8.

Normally two-third percent of the scores are from 400 to 600. A Higher score does not guarantee an admission in any top B-schools and a low GMAT Score does not mean that you are eliminated.

       I am getting a jump on the GMAT because I wanted to start applying to get in an MBA program as soon as possible. I have been taking an online GMAT prep course to help me prepare for the test, as it being online has been very convenient for me.
