The Best FREE Grammar Software. To help your writing skills improve.

Updated on June 1, 2012

Very Few Things Are Free

If you are a huber who follows me. You know I have a lot to learn about punctuation and grammar.

I love to write! However I never have until joining hubpages. This is a great place to express yourself.

I will mention the great software in a moment. But first let me send a shout out.

I want to mention two hubers who have helped me a lot. Each has taken time to give me constructive help without being insulting in any way. They have truly offered to help me improve. I believe I have learned a lot from them.

Becky Katz

Robert Erich

Hours And Hours

In the last few weeks. I have spent countless hours looking for grammar help.

I have tried at least 15 on-line grammar checkers. Downloaded free programs.

They all had a catch. Some would check your work then ask for $9.95 a month to show the results. Others would only do up to 200 words. A few I downloaded said free, But would only tell you there were problems, and show what they were ,unless you buy the program.

One That Is Real

So here is what I found at last.

I use Google chrome. Under the extensions for chrome. There is one called "After the Deadline."

This one is free for real. If you have Google Chrome do a search for chrome extensions.

It will check for.

  • Biased Language
  • Clich├ęs
  • Complex Phrases
  • Diacritical Marks
  • Double Negatives
  • Hidden Verbs
  • Jargon
  • Passive Voice
  • Phrases to Avoid
  • Redundant Phrases

Very easy to use. A small icon will appear in the bottom right corner of any text box.

You click the icon ,and the program checks your writing, and offers suggestions to fix errors.

Hope This Helps

I know this is a short hub. Not much more I can say about it.

I just wanted to share this tool. I hope it will help others like it has me.

That is a great add on. Wonder if there is such a creature comfort for Auroro aka FireFox or IE. Not that I bother with the latter except for school.

      Thank you.

      Voted up and useful
