What a Wonderful World - A Poem

Updated on May 28, 2012

I saw butterflies with machine guns

and the dolphins burning forests

I saw crocodiles dropping bombs

and the frogs polluting the air

I saw eagles firing missiles

and the penguins polluting the land

I saw bees driving tanks

and the tigers polluting the sea

I saw flowers killing children

and the trees building walls

oh, what a wonderful world!

A different take on what we're doing to the planet, reality turned on it's head; unfortunately, it is mankind destroying this wonderful ship floating around in space and waging war on its neighbors. You have a very distinctive style....interesting.

This is really good! ...it's a really creative way to point out what mankind (ahem...I mean, the "frogs") are doing to the environment!

I enjoyed your poem, I read it in the reverse. Yes, because of man's wanton ways, he is doing a lot of damage to other creatures who have equal rights as he does to enjoy life in this habitat- the Planet Earth.

It actually reminds me of the scene in Good Morning Vietnam. I always thought that was a great use of the song.

Very thought-provoking poem, nextstopjupiter. Sad how it's impossible to imagine any other creature torturing Nature other than man!

I think this poem makes the point that the animals are suffering for man is doing to this planet- well done
