What is an Indigo Child?

Lisa is a substitute teacher who studies English Literature. She lives to write and is following her dream of becoming a professor.

What is An Indigo Child?

A friend of mine mentioned to me that she thought my children, and I were all Indigo Children. I had never heard this term before so I was intrigued. I decided I would need to investigate this term. When I got home chaos ensued, and I forgot my mission. After dishes, dinner, baths, and playing referee, my children were all resting comfortably. So, I decided to sign into Hubpages. I came across the article A Guide to Developing Your Psychic Ability By Janis Goad. After reading this article, I decided that I had to learn more about these Indigo children. I am not going to go into the characteristics of an indigo child because the link above explains this quite well. Instead, I would like to take a look at what an indigo child is and why they are here.

According to John Hawks, Research has recently started on two genes, which seem to have played a part in human evolution. These genes are called ASPM and Microcephalin, and they have been found to have an impact on the size of the brain. Studies were conducted on humans and primates, and it was determined that, around every 30,000 years or so, these genes have changed or adapted (Hawks John, 2005).

Apparently, a study was initiated to determine whether the amount of these genes varied from person to person. The team tested ninety people of different ages, races, and economic backgrounds and determined that these genes varied greatly among each person. Amazingly, they determined that both of these genes are a fairly recent addition to our DNA, yet they are increasing rapidly. Apparently, people found with the highest concentration have a cognitive advantage. However, these same people seem to suffer from conditions like ADD, ADHD, anxiety, or depression (Hawks John, 2005). Does this sound like some of the characteristics mentioned in the link provided?

According to Anna Hayes, Indigo Children have been identified by the scientific community in the United States and China. These Children seem to possess the very same previously mentioned genetic adaption’s. Accordingly, these children also seem to hold a sensory ability that surpasses the commonly known five senses. Even so, these children's gifts are usually not nurtured and, even worse than that, most are labeled with a mental disorder (Hayes Anna, 2012).

Now, we take all of this information, and although it may be fascinating; we ask ourselves what the point is of this new, more intelligent being. Well that my friend is the most fascinating aspect of this article! According to jordanduchnycz, Indigo children have evolved in order to facilitate the shift into a new world order. The world as we know it has been deteriorating, for many years; some reasons for this are natural disasters, and other causes are human error, but the undertone of everything is misalignment in the sacred trinity. It is an indisputable fact that each person must possess a mind, body, and spirit in order to exist. Scientifically, we have vast knowledge on the mind and the body, though; the soul still remains a mystery. As human beings, everything that we do, is affected by our emotions; sometimes this may be subconscious (Jordanduchnycz, 2012).

In order to understand the connection between Indigo children, the sacred trinity, and the new world order we must examine the chakras. The chakras are wheel like vortexes that are spinning inside the body, which draw in and expel energy. Each chakra is associated with a color, emotion, and a gland or organ.

Gland or organ
Adrenal gland
Third eye
This is where the Chakras are located, as well as the emotion and color they represent.

Some of the energies that flow through the chakras are the male and female energies. The male energy is focused; task orientated, and views pieces of the puzzle, not the whole picture. It is usually associated with left brain dominance. Female energy is more creative and random, preferring the scenic route and seeing the whole picture. The female energy is right brained dominate. Ninety percent of the human species are left brained, male energy dominant. These energies are not directly related to the sex that they are named for, for example; a male can possess female, right brained energy (Jordanduchnycz, 2012).

As mentioned above, scientific communities in the United States as well as China have found these indigo children who are more right brained dominant. What was not mentioned was that most of these children can be found in the United States. While, a whole new group of people called super physics have been discovered in China. These children are far less in numbers than the indigo children, yet; they can do amazing things such as telepathy, healing, and Telekinesis. These children are left brain dominant. It is amazing that these special children with amazing talents are being found on complete opposite sides of the world. According to jordanduchnycz, this is to create balance. The indigo children’s new way of thinking, is supposed to put balance back into the left-brain dominant world by balancing the energies going into the chakras, and restoring harmony back onto the planet (Jordanduchnycz, 2012).

In conclusion, Indigo children seem to be a reality supported by scientific facts. Some believe that Indigo children were sent from a higher power in order to restore balance. Others believe that they are just evidence of further evolution. Finally, some people do not believe that they exist at all. After doing this research, I have to admit that I have fallen into the category of absolute belief.

Indigo Children

I look into the mirror and it cracks

I can’t help but to look back

A plethora of lifetimes

Flash in front of my eyes

I raised my hand, I volunteered

I chose my destiny without fear

I finally reached enlightenment

After my death I began to transcend

Suddenly I knew I had a choice

I could live again, I could have a voice

In this lifetime I have been misunderstood

Mislabeled as up to no good

I feel others pain, ache in their misery

Every single emotion profoundly affects me

The path of least resistance would have been so easy to take

Just following the herd and acting fake

Alas, I have a mission now

So, through the whispers and disapproval I will stand proud

Do you believe that Indigo children exist?

Needed to post you one tiny word to help thank you so much again for your personal fatnastic methods you've provided in this case. It was really seriously generous of people like you to offer freely all that many of us could have supplied as an e-book to help with making some profit for their own end, most notably considering that you could have done it if you ever desired. The strategies also acted like a good way to be certain that many people have the same passion much like mine to see great deal more in respect of this problem. I know there are numerous more pleasant sessions up front for people who examine your blog post.

I would like to express my thnkas to the writer for bailing me out of such a predicament. As a result of surfing through the internet and coming across tricks which were not beneficial, I believed my entire life was done. Existing without the answers to the problems you have fixed by way of your entire guide is a crucial case, and the kind that could have negatively damaged my entire career if I hadn't come across your blog post. The natural talent and kindness in taking care of all the details was priceless. I don't know what I would've done if I had not discovered such a subject like this. I can at this point look ahead to my future. Thank you so much for this expert and sensible help. I won't be reluctant to endorse your site to anybody who needs and wants guide on this topic.

DJ, Thank you for stopping by and leaving such a kind comment. I am taking things one day at a time, and I believe that everything happens for a reason. I am not perfect and so my path will not be, I will trip and fall, but I will get back up again! I have already noticed changes within myself, I cannot wait to see what is around the next corner.

      Great article, Lisa.

Yes, I have read much on Indigo Children. There are many different versions of what they are and why they are here. If Indigo Children can help this sick world, then by all means we need them.

You did a very nice job on this article and I do believe that this subject

should stay in the forefront so their special talents can be encouraged.

"I feel others pain, ache in their misery

Every single emotion profoundly affects me."

These are your words from your poem. I am like you, and I encourage you to learn to help when you can, but be wise enough to know when to

whisper a prayer and let life work its magic.

I am older than you and have seen people's lives change into

profoundly amazing lives. You never know what wonders are just

      around the corner.

I came across this about a year ago, I even wrote a poem about it, but I wasn't sure how real it was, at the time there was very little on the web about it. It's a beautiful thought, I voted not sure if I believe, but I love the idea of gifted children with special abilities. Thank you for raising the subject, I must try to finish the poem.

Aubrey, I have had some instances of pretty strong Déjà Vu, but I seem to be more empathic by nature. I feel other people’s emotions very strongly, I cannot handle anger, or sadness, I have to stay out of crowds. In addition, when I was younger I would always get a terrible feeling of foreboding when something bad was about to happen. I never knew what would happen, but I knew it would be bad. For example, I was in elementary school and I got the feeling. I threw a fit until they called my mom and I found out my cousin was just bit in the head by our dog. It has just been a lot of strange things that I have previously been embarrassed to talk about =) Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

Lisa!! We both read that article! It's so funny now that I'm reading more about this phenomenon. It's awesome that you decided to learn a bit more. I told Goad that I had De Ja Vu a lot and she said that I should research it. I still have moments when things just seem TOO familiar. "I thought this already happened?" Do you feel that way sometimes too??

I enjoyed reading your blog. It explains Indigo well without getting into the paranormal airy-fairy factor.

My daughter and I have started an Indigo support site since so many books/blogs refer to Indigo children as troublemakers, behavior problems and learning disabled. She was highly insulted by all these assumptions made by so called “experts in the field”.

Also, labeling them with “not normal” diagnoses will usually keep sensitive kids medicated for life. My daughter is an Indigo Child and is medication-free and very successful in life.

If anyone needs guidance please have a look at our site:

I am glad to see you post a more down to earth accounting of what westerners call Indigo. I would like to give you the following for your additional consideration.

It is not new or evolved human consciousness as the indigenous people all over the world have lived in this way since the beginning. What is new is that the western world is beginning to pay attention after denouncing this way of life several thousand years ago. So it is the western view of the world that is on the verge of a new evolution, in my opinion.

It is interesting to me how the definition of this term, which began as a person with deep spiritual connections, has morphed into children with behavioral problems.

If I may, I would like to invite you to visit these two websites: and as you continue to increase your knowledge. Sonia Choquette's books are also quite authentic.

Very interesting subject matter. I do believe children are growing differently and the human species is on the verge of a new evolution. I think it will be interesting to read more about these studies.
