When Life Is A Stretch From Our Imagination

Updated on March 3, 2011

That Is My Biggest Surprise

When I have finally understood

Life is something I can never control

It is bold and comes and goes without notice or reasoning

Each time I try to figure out one more wrinkle in the sheets

There is another to take it's place almost instantly

As if I created it unknowingly

It rises out of no where

I leaves me puzzled and confused

I thought for sure I had this small little wrinkle figured out

I smooth out the ends and work the middle slowly through

Careful not to miss a spot or I will be back where I started soon

I step away from the bed and look how wonderfully I have done

Then I notice one more wrinkle I did not see

It seems to have risen out of fear

So as I begin my journey and put my mind in place

I question all that I know and begin to ask ?

Why is it when I come so far I suddenly seem to have so much farther to go

A whole new reality is now welcoming me at my feet

The simple task at hand has changed to many chores and problems that constantly spring up like dandelions on the lawn

I pride myself on my dedication and self control

To take a step back and reaccess the situation

To find the missing link

I am compelled to seek the greatest wonder of them all

A bigger challange and sometimes a bigger fall

I know with this new adventure I will be once again put to the test

I think back to all my knowledge and experience

Once again think of a new way to perform and ammend

Then I am quickly pleasantly surprised again

Life and nature have showed their unique traits

They have blessed me with their presence and remarkable powers

My pet who has showed no signs of ever listening to me

Has come up on my lap to lay her head freely and willingly

So contently and passionate as if she knew I needed her love and guidance

Then as I once again go to bask in the overwhelming peace

She notices and acknowldges me  with lifeless emotion

Then an unknown sound sends her out of my lap and kitchen bound

I am discouraged once again

The love that I want to give has been put on hold

Have I been decieved again

In thinking I have control

Then I realize I have learned another lesson

To always be able to adapt to any situation

Don't hold onto hard set rules

Change flows constantly and to go with it makes life so much easier

To appreciate the moment for what it is and nothing more

To love the ongoing spectacular changes that take place In all of life

Especially the ones that we don't see

Because we have closed our eyes and found a way to loose focus

On what is important and what will bring us the most joy

It is all of life that we are such an intricate part of

To understand is to question

To love is to lose

By appreciating we open our hearts up to knew romances

That inspire and motivate us

To a fantasy land that is alive and well

Living in the shadows of life

Testing our patience and peeking our interest at every corner

When we were children life looked so much simplier and carefree

We just had to be happy and then all things fell into place

One day led to the next

No grudges were ever kept

Heartaches and the worst of troubles disappeared without notice

Another day another dream

So different from the day before

There is so much magic that is there and almost missed

Children never worry about the long term affects

Of age and what happens when our hair falls out or if we get fat

They live for the day and comb the hair that never is perfect

Move around until their sides ache and are forced to  stop because they are out of breathe

Only to ressume where they left off

Enjoying new smiles and laughter that come out of the blue

Not affraid of the many things that ail our nation

Because they know in time all things will work out

The teachers that they couldn't stand

Have later turned out to be their close friends that they could never tell

Experiences that has caused endless pain

Have some how some way changed our thinking and made us stronger

We just moved on like our parents did

Until one day we will take their place

Then we can look back at life and wonder where did the years go ?

How could everything of happened so fast ?

So welcome the strangest of situations that you see

The real outcome may be many  years away

When your children will tell there children what mom and dad use to do

Then the knowledge will be passed like a cup of sugar from one hand to another

Quietly and unnoticed but done often and always appreciated

Times change and with it we grow older

Wiser and more aware of what our life is about

Love that starts with a little smile and grows endlessly without any effort

If we can learn to apply that love to everything we see and feel

We have not only lived but have made it real
