A Chemistry Lesson Plan Add On_Do The PT Song and Dance

Updated on August 10, 2013

Do The Periodic Table Song & Dance (Hey, Hey Midddle School Teachers, Parents, Coaches & Students !!)

The development of the Periodic Table (PT) over a century goes back to mid-17th Century, several decades before the American Revolution.

The glass making industry, along with the knowledge associated with alchoholic beverages were an important experience that propelled the early years of development of the Periodic Table that created the impetus for the knowledge of physics and chemistry that was to come in the next century with "great minds', particulary in Germany, Russia and France as well elsewhere in Europe.

Today, there are 118 known elements, gaps left in the Periodic Table developed by the Russian "Great Mind", Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev (1834-1907).

Mendeleev won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in the year, 1906. His early years were spent in a large family of syblings in Sybria, where his family had a glassmaking business.

Climbing On The Shoulders of a Great Mind of the Mendeleev's Era

Can't use the Periodic Table to Describe Dark Matter & Dark Engergy in our known Universe ?

Mendeleev’s father was a teacher of fine arts, politics and philosophy. Unfortunately for the family's financial well being, his father became blind and lost his teaching position.

His mother was forced to work and she restarted her family's abandoned glass factory. At the age of 13, after the passing of his father and the destruction of his mother's factory by fire, Mendeleev attended the Gymnasium in Tobolsk (Siberia). His life afterward was an economic struggle but also a life of scientific pursuit that led to his discovery and construction of the Periodic Table, that is the basis of many discoveries and inventions made in the two centuries of legacy past since his era.

Anyone trying to learn the Periodic Table could use a little help memorizing it, regardless of age.
