A gift to my favorite primary school teacher

A gift to my favorite primary school teacher

Primary school teachers are the least appreciated teachers irrespective of the fact they lay the foundation that other teachers build upon. Most veteran primary school teachers have a lot of prominent people that passed under their tutelage but they are not remembered because people believe their reward is in heaven

Teachers are important in our lives especially the primary school teachers. This group of teachers handle pupils who doesn't yet know why they have to be crowded in a room with others. Elementary school teachers contribute a lot to what pupils become because they lay the foundation that other teachers build upon .If the foundation is shaky at this stage ,it would take more than a good high-school to remedy the situation .

Irrespective of the good works done by this set of teachers, the public doesn't seem to show much appreciation. It is worst in communities where ignorance is celebrated .In some of this communities ,the worst abuse anybody could give someone is to call them an "ordinary primary-school -teacher". It is worst in private primary schools were the teacher not only have to endure insults from ignorant members of the public ,they also have to fast and pray to receive their salaries timeously. Some parents and community members regard them as lazy never- do-wells who are using teaching to cover their laziness.

Upon all this discouraging factors ,my favorite teacher papa David contributed immensely to what i have become today. This particular teacher at the age of seventy- five comes to school so early that he practically doubled as the security man. He forced all of us to imbibe this spirit of being early. Above all, he made us to read one page of our English test-book everyday or face the rod : in those days when the rod was not spared .The fear of the rod and the scorn of fellow pupils made us develop a voracious appetite for books and that marked the turning point in my life.

They say the reward of this teachers is in heaven and some communities are taking it literally by not remunerating them adequately .In some localities ,they also have to undertake menial jobs to keep the wolf from the door. This has greatly affected moral and motivation .

Most veteran primary school teachers have a lot of prominent personalities that has passed under their tutelage .Doctors, lawyers ,engineers to mention just a few. Many of them don't even remember the existence of this teachers not talk of sowing back into their lives. It is easier for them to remember their high-school and university lecturers than those who laid the building block to their greatness.

This period we should organize a gift for them ,no-matter how little to show appreciation for their contributions during our formative years .Let this be their reward for now ,in heaven they would negotiate the others.

Sounds like teachers have it tough where you live. I don't see my grandchildren's teachers treated this way at all. Interesting lens.
