A Third Grade Science Fair Project

Updated on March 10, 2013

Science Fair Round Two

Last year, I helped my son with his science fair project, and, at that time, he said he wanted to do it again this year. Science fair time came around, and, sure enough, he wanted to do it again. I helped him again, and this is the story of it.

The Steps We Took

We went with an animal themed idea again. This time it was dog noseprints. The idea was to find out if dog noseprints were as unique as people's fingerprints.

We used food coloring for ink. We rounded up three dogs, and put their noseprints on a piece of paper. Then we compared the prints. We discovered that dog noseprints aren't really unique at all. We used three different dog breeds, and the noseprints were all identical. It was interesting to find that out, and fun to do the project with him again.
