Energy of activation

Updated on August 1, 2014

How chemical reaction happened?

What happens in a chemical reaction? What should be the mechanism of chemical reaction? In a simple view the two things happens.

1. Breaking down of bond ireactants

2. Formation of new bonds and formation of new chemicals.

The formation of new bonds happens when atoms are collides with each others. In collide state the atoms are get closer to each other. In this state it become easier to form new bond and new chemical structure.

Energy of activation

In a chemical reaction process by breaking down of one bond releases some energy and this energy used in formation of new bond. Releasing energy by breaking down of one bond if not sufficient for formation of new bond, thereaditional energy is requires. This aditional energy is found from the kinetic energy of atoms in collision. This minimum amount of energy is called energy of activation
