   The most urgent reform required is a return of control over curriculum to the local communities and a repeal of No Child Left Behind or a whole hearted revision of the policy.  Our school teachers are also being innundated with paperwork.  We need to free teachers to spend their time teaching and preparing to teach in the classroom, not to doing administrative tasks.  Lastly, the policy of "inclusion" through which students who have developmental disabilities needs to be modified or eradicated.  Teachers have children with severe learning and/or emotional disabilities in their general education classrooms and it is expected that they will give these kids the special attention that they need while at the same time properly tending to the needs of the rest of the class.  In my opinion these are three of the most urgently needed reforms for Government Schools.

   Repeal child labor laws.  Kick out students who don't want to learn and who interfere with the learning of others.  Starting in the 8th grade, put students who are not interested in learning to work in factories or agriculture.  We can take factory work away from the Chinese and rebuild the American economy.  We can pay people younger than 17 lower wages and therefore eliminate the need for undocumented workers, solving the illegal immigrant problem (they won't come here if there is not work for them).  We can make teaching a profession people want to enter because there are no horrible kids in high school ruining it for everyone and bringing the whole institution down.  Our universities will be full of the best and the brightest once again.
   
   Of course, if the children hate working and want to go back to school, they would be allowed.  Also, no one would be allowed to choose neither school NOR work until they are 17.  Then they can drop out of both and be a burden on their parents.  However, parents would not be allowed to collect any welfare from the state if they had children under 18 who were neither working nor going to school.

   As sad as it is to conclude it would seem that the entire public education system in this country has fallen by the way-side. Standardized test scores in the US continue to be consistently lower than many other industrialized nations. read more
