It is a complete myth that multi-tasking is a good thing. On average, even the best multi-taskers lose almost 30% of their productivity when they try to multi-task. This is why I make it a habit not to do it, and only work when I can completely focus and not have any distractions -- during my work time, my husband plays goalie with phone calls, visitors, baby's demands and anything else that may interrupt. I do the same for him while he works. It's really amazing what can get done when you focus on your top priorities, do one job to the best of your abilities, and then move on to the next.
