If something significant does happen, it may be the end of what we know. If so, I'm sure it will be a new beginning of something better.

Like SamboRambo said if something significant happens it could be the END for our planet and human race, but for my point of view we can't predict such things.

Only God knows the time and the hour for the world as we know it to end. Man cannot predict such things. If it should happen in 2012, this is only coincidence. And Ludivine, hopefully we will see your new hub on Dec 13, 2012.

Y2K revisited in terms of Hollywood hysteria and fear mongering. If there was to be any significant change it will most likely be on a mass social human evolutionary level, which I believe is more in tune with the Mayan predictions/calendar.   No need for meteors the size of Rhode Island on a collision course or Supernova sun spots, when we have so much internal political and economic strife worldwide to incite some mass awakening via Zeitgeist movement.

I don't know, but why don't we live our lives like it is going to happen. Then December 12 2012 we won't have any regrets. big_smile

xanzacow is correct, our calender at one time didn't even have the year zero. 13.0.0.0. is a doomsday date for the Aztecs and their world. There are many doomsdays from many different tribes.

One doomsday prediction is when nine year old girls having babies - that's already happened.

The 2012 is about astronomical conjuction - that already happened in 2010.

Many sign & omens from all over - the rise & fall of civilizations has happened many times over. I.E the Sphinx is much older than ancient Eqyptians - they kept rebuilding it and restoring it over and over again until now it's has a tiny pharoh's head on a huge body.

I am planning to get a Sarah Palin bumper sticker for 2012 because - hey! the world is supposed to end anyway!

I feel that nothing will happen in 2012. But the rate at which human civilization is growing and using resources. Polluting the mother earth... THE END IS NEAR i am afraid.

    Please SAVE WATER
    SAVE ELECTRICITY
    GO GREEN
    SAY NO TO PLASTICS

2012 is just an wake up call for us-- from our ancestors... start acting today...and give your children a better world to live.

I don't think the world is going to end this early.  It might eventually, but it won't happen while I'm alive.
