How many prototypes did Thomas Edison make before perfecting the lightbulb?

I'm not sure that he really invented it. He took credit for it like he did most things. I believe Tesla invented the one we use today. Not sure really

Don't know, but he made enough to light up a lane at night to dazzle his investors. One bulb would have been sufficent, but Edison seemed to know how to sell.
