How does a person, or is it even possible to, escape, transcend or conquer meta-ignorance?


Meta-ignorance being that state of mind made most recently "famous" by Don Rumsfeld in his refering to the (Bush) administration's "don't know what we don't know". So - how does one acquire knowledge of something - deliberately! - if he isn't even aware of his lacking it. So - not knowing THAT you don't know AND not knowing WHAT you don't know are two slightly different questions. I'm trying to address both. How does one "make sure" he knows what he needs (or wants!) to know? -stan
