Standardized testing should be used to help teachers learn which areas need to be taught. A standardized test could also be used to show that a student as already gained knowledge in a subject in order to skip on to the next class.
Standardized tests should not be offered more than once a year and should not be used as the criteria for passing or failing students or teachers. Every child learns in a different way so evaluation of academic progress should take into account each child's own learning style.
Standardized tests should never be used to determine the curriculum. Curriculum should be based on the interests and needs of the class and teacher creating an environment of active, eager learners.
